Wow, what a match!! These two teams brought the heat, dedication and hustle to the court tonight. It was a blast to watch and a pity that no one was videotaping. From the hard hits and huge blocks in the front row to sprinting saves and pancakes in the back, these two teams showed the stuff that champs are made of.
After sitting (at the bar) for an hour, I’d hit that came out a little slow in game one. Back that ace up started off with a quick lead and a score of 6-2. However, it wasn’t long until the score was tied up and then I’d hit that took the lead. Some unforced errors and big plays by their opponents sent Back that ace up into a bit of a deficit that they couldn’t quite get themselves out of. With a score of 25-20, I’d hit that started the match off with a win.
Game two is where the majority of the magic happened. It started off a little slow, but soon both teams found their grooves and began their attack. Justin from I’d hit that was a huge threat at the net, putting up a huge block and crushing his spikes. Kaitlin and Laura, the two setters for Back that ace up, each brought their wits to the match and didn’t just assist their teammates, but took their chances to score some points with well-placed tips and chips. Kaitlin also rocked an awesome pancake which ended in a point scored for her team. The two teams went point for point for a long while in the end, each having multiple game point possessions. With a final score of 28-26, Back that ace up sent the match into a third game.
So much determination was seen on the faces and in the actions of the two opponents in game three. Trent from Back that ace up, continued his night of stardom at the net and everyone was playing at full speed and attention to not let any ball hit the floor. I’d hit that started making more unforced errors in game three and went on a streak of four missed serves in a row at one point. The energy stayed high, however, and both teams kept taking the lead from the other. I’d hit that got the ball back with a score of 20-24 and started to close the gap. However, a big kill from Back that ace up sealed the deal and crowned them champions with a score of 25-22!
Trent pushed for the win today and got it! His middle hits and blocks were spectacular, the other team didn't even know what hit them! Not to forget Trent had excellent ball placement with his serves, tips and passes. This man has a strong vertical and court presence that compliments his natural abilities immensely. Awesome job tonight Trent!
