The West Canaan Coyotes dominated the championship game to clinch the title that has eluded them for many seasons. Going up against an Illegal Touching team that had won a hard fought semi-final game against Victorious Secret, winning in the final moments of the game, seemed like a tough task, but West Canaan was too much to handle on both sides of the ball. The first half was a defensive battle, both teams had promising drives stall out resulting in a punt and a turnover on downs. West Canaan got a score in just before half time that set the tone for the second half. At the start of the second half WC took the ball right down the field and scored on back to back possessions to put the game out of reach. Though the defense stood out, much of the credit has to go to their QB Dan Barr for his great play calling and gutsy performance after injuring his finger on his throwing hand late in the first half. In the end the game finished in a much deserved Championship for the West Canaan Coyotes!!!
During a dominant performance by the whole West Canaan Coyotes team, Dan Barr really stood out at QB. On top of calling a great game, Dan seemed to put the ball wherever he wanted all night. The accuracy is even more impressive when you consider he injured his finger on his throwing hand in the first half while diving for a flag during an interception return by Illegal Touching. On top of his 4 passing TD's, he also had one rushing TD and a few impressive long runs during the course of the game.
Kathryn B earns this week's Player of the Week award for numerous plays during her doubleheader, but one particular play stands out that would make Antonio Brown (the best route runner in the NFL) proud. Let me paint the picture for you: 4th and Goal, Gender from about the 18 yard line. Kathryn snaps the ball, runs probably the best double move on two defenders I've ever seen, lays out for a poorly thrown ball and makes the catch as she slid across the endzone. Fantastic catch, fantastic couple of games for Kathryn, who provided relentless pass rush and caught 3 other TD's to go along with this one.
