First Place

Late Summer Co-ed Beach Volleyball at Alki Wednesdays

In a thrilling conclusion to the Softcore season, To Kill A Blocking Nerd battled through a tough semi-final round victory, en route to cruising to a win in the championship round. While many spectators may prefer the excitement to culminate in the championship game, it was the match leading up to the finals that truly tested the mettle of To Kill A Blocking Nerd. Blake Webb and Eliza Junkerman led the way in the first game, then while sitting on the bench for the second, they watched their one game lead disappear, putting their season on the line in the third and final game. But TKABN responded as only champions do, taking the third game 21-14 and moving on to the championship, where they found their groove and sailed on to a 2-0 victory. Kalli Dennis stole the show in the championship, putting together an array of fabulous moves, bumping, setting, and spiking anything in sight, leaving Janes Naughty Monkeys dizzy from her seemingly endless volleyball skills.

POTW: Kalli Dennis

To Kill a Blocking Nerd

Kalli Dennis was had the envy of every wannabe volleyball player at Alki Beach this past Wednesday as she led her team through the championship round. She served, spiked, and set the other team into submission. To Kill a Blocking Nerd was proud to have such a fine player, as her value was nearly immeasurable once the championship was clinched.

Wednesday, August 12

POTW: Blake Webb

To Kill a Blocking Nerd

Blake Webb has always been known as a warrior. On Wednesday night, with the playoffs underway, he was not going let his team be denied entry into the semi-finals next week. Blake played with great effort, diving all over the court, accumulating more and more sand throughout the night, leaving no doubt that he definitely took some of the beach home with him.

Wednesday, July 22

POTW: Kristi McChesney

To Kill a Blocking Nerd

Kristi's play was this week was like a shiny new vacuum cleaner. She was automatic, powerful, and picked up her whole crew. For cheering Gem, Scout, and the gang to a 3-0 sweepfest, Kristi gets our weekly Pulitzer for poetry in motion.
