The Denny Park Kickball championship featured some of the best plays this umpire has ever witnessed. Long throw outs, stunning catches, and athletic tags occurred in abundance throughout the game.
The undoubted play of the game, however, came when WeWork had 1 out with the bases loaded. Stepping up to the plate was Drew, an intent gleam in his eye. With one fell swoop, Drew skied the ball way over the fence, earning himself a grand slam. Amholes could not make up the run differential in the following innings, and WeWork's great defense put the game away.
Congratulations to the Denny Park champions!
Harley brought his work boots and ran for a protein bar between the games of his playoff doubleheader. In game 1, a forfeit win, he played some nice center field D and had a couple big kicks playing for the opponent, KickFu, who had to forfeit. In game 2, with the winner going to the championship, he laced up those boots and continued to dominate with his centerfield D and had a couple key monster kicks [when not fouling out] at the plate. With a 1 run lead going into the 7th, Harley launched one over the left field fence for a 2-run HR that ensured victory and a chance at the coveted title.
Drew had a great game this week. He would start off the game with a homerun with his first at bat. The ball leapt off his leg and he made it look so effortless. At the next two at bats, drew would make it look even easier going on to kick two triples and driving home multiple runs. Not only was Drew a threat on the offensive side, he also made plays in the outfield. Out of the three outs Drew recorded the best came when he was climbing up the hill in center while falling down to make the out. With playoffs approaching hopefully Drew can continue his hot play
Player of the Week at Denny field, in downtown Seattle, goes to Harley Lewis for out-running his teammate the length of the field and having tremendous power on his kicks. Harley eyed the right field line with kicks going either foul or deep and down the line for extra bases. Great game and Harley Lewis left the park knowing he knocked in almost 7RBIs on his own. With the win and the display of power to kick the ball, Harley Lewis wins Player of the Week.
On the first day its hard to get the feel for the game! WeWork was down 3 to 4 all game! They couldnt seem to get across home after the first inning. In the final inning WeWork loaded the bases with 2 outs. Harley got up with the game on his sholders. One more out and they lose, but a base hit would save the game. With all the pressure Harley did more than save the game...he nailed an in park home run claiming victory for WeWork!!
