It all started with a thriller of an opening round game between the Fleetz, and Axis of Awesome. Seven innings weren't enough to finish this off, but the top of the 8th Mica Crisp connected for a 2 run homer to win it. Fleetz then faced the top seed Masterbatters. They continued their momentum led by Autumn Platz's 4/4 at the plate and stellar defense to win 27-12. While Fleetz had to wait for their opponent, Her Majesty the Queen easily disposed of Eye Candy 21-4. The championship was set and it didn't dissappoint. Fleetz took an early lead only to be tied twice once at 4-4 and then at 13-13. Her Majesty roared out to what was thought to be commanding lead at 19-13 with just a half inning to play when Fleetz team reached down threw the heat exhustion and pulled out the comeback of all comebacks scoring 8 runs in the top of the 7th led by Kristen Upton and won the game and championship 21-19. Wow..way to go Fleetz, your run was truely amazing.
Heart, Will-power, Determination are just a few of the words to describe Kristen Upton. Kristen had the tasks of being the leadoff hitter and the pitcher for 3 games while battling the heat. Somehow while being completely drained, and overheated she draged herself out to the mound and pitched every inning. As if that wasn't enough, she single handedly lead the charge with one of the most amazing combacks ever. Kristen came up to bat in the top of the 7th and drove a single to center, asked if she needed a runner because she could hardly stand, she refused, only to run the bases and score. Truely an inspiring performance. Great job Kristen
