Going Deep! used a stifling defense and some timely offensive drives to win the Softcore title over the Evil Tangents. Bryan O'Rielly keyed the defense with 3 interceptions and then made his presence felt on offense with 3 touchdowns. Jenny Grand put constant pressure on the Evil Tangent QB, forcing errant passes and key turnovers. The Evil Tangents had a great run in the playoffs, beating the #1 seed Washington Cathedral to advance to he title game. But Going Deep! looked like a team possessed from the opening whistle and never allowed the Evil Tangents to get comfortable. It ende up being a great season for both teams. Congratulations to Going Deep! on their first Underdog title.
Bryan O'Rielly led Going Deep! to the Soft Core Championship at Juanita High School. Bryan scored 2 TD's, but more importantly had 3 interceptions leading a smothering defense against the Evil Tangents. Great Job, Bryan!
The final week of the regular season at Jaunita featured a number of close, exciting games. In Going Deep's 34-26 victory over the Ninja's, Jenny Grand made a key 1st down catch that saved a hard fought victory. Going Deep built a first half lead only to see it evaporate late in the 2nd half as the Ninja's mounted a late charge. Facing 4th and long inside deep in the own end, Jenny caught a long pass for a first down, enabling Going Deep to run out the clock. Outstanding job, Jenny!
