In one of the most exciting games of the Underdog season, the Newbies scored a touchdown with no time left on the clock to win the Jaunita Co-ed Championship.
The first half was close as the teams traded 2 touchdowns each and battled to a tie. In the 2nd half, the Newbies started with the ball and drove down to score the go ahead TD. XFL came right back to go score and go up 1 after the PAT. But for the next 10 minutes it was all Newbies as they scored 15 unanswered points to take a 14 point lead. The drives that produced the points featured short passes to Erin Jolley, Jennine Ellis and Bryan Palaruan as they marched down the field. But when it looked like all was lost for XFL, Mike Darbinyan's Pick 6 late in the 2nd half closed the gap to 6 points. On the ensuing drive, the Newbies drove deep into XFL territory, but Cisco made an outstanding interception on tipped ball to give the ball back to XFL with a minute remaining in the game. Dimitri Mordakav led XFL down the field and then on a gender play caught a tipped pass from Layla Shahrzad for the go ahead TD with 20 seconds remaining. But XfL's celebration proved premature, the Newbies had 20 seconds and 3 timeouts remaining and subsequently drove the length of the field. With 3 seconds left in the game Jennine Ellis made a diving catch in the middle of the end zone for the winning touchdown.
Kudo's to XFL for playing both the semi-final and the Championship with only 7 players. And congratulations to the Newbies for their never say die attitude and the championship. Great Heart Newbies!
Jennine earned her stripes this past Sunday. Playoffs brings out the worst in people but on this day it brought the best out in Jennine! She hauled in some key catches down the stretch to get her team to the championship. She saved the best for last! With no time on the clock she caught a pass in the end zone with her outstretched hands! Everyone on defense was in shock but gave it up to her for an unbelievable catch! Great job!

Bri Robinson had 2 big TD receptions to lead the Newbies to a playoff win over the Gym Class Rejects. The game was closer than expected and the TD catches provided a spark for the Newbies. Great Job, Bri!
Great defensive prowess by Bryan Palaruan helped the Newbies preserve a hard fought victory over the Ball Snatchers. Bryan had a number of pass deflections and put pressure on the Ball Snatcher QB the entire game. The Ball Snatchers had the ball in the last minute with a chance to win, but Palaruan's relentless defense hold on. Great intensity Bryan!
Erin Jolley threw a touchdown pass and caught a TD pass to lead the Newbies to a 31-20 win over XFL in the opening week of Co-ed football. Erin's consistent play on defense also aided the Newbies cause in a battle of teams that will undoubtedly be in the playoffs at the end of the season. Terrific job, Erin.
