Kick in a Box had an incredible championship game. They started out of the gate fast and never looked back. They held the top team to five runs with great pitching and unbelievable defense (with an exceptional catch by Jeff Fisher). The only thing we could have asked for was better weather! Congratulations to both teams. I am sure Break Rubbers will be back for revenge.
Dan had a huge game right before and during the championship to earn player of the week. He kicked three home runs total. He sped around the bases like that little cartoon rodent, Speedy Gonzalez! There was nothing but a cloud of dust all three times he scored! He played some great defense as well to help his team win the title. Great job Dan!
To all the past players of the week. Thank you for a great season and giving the umpires something fantastic to write about! Great job!
Defense was the key to Thursday night's game between Kick in a Box and Baby Seal Club. Lisa Taylor dominated the pitcher's mound by throwing dozens of strikes and making several huge put-outs. Lisa killed several rallies by Baby Seal Club and deserves the credit for getting her team to the Semi-Finals.
Kick in a Box may have dominated both their games Thursday night, but Zoe Victor was on fire offensively. Her speed and athleticism allowed her to kick for 3 singles in just one game. Hopefully her momentum can drive the team to the finals next week. Great game!
Laurel was an All Star catcher this week. Her high spirits, kicking leg and quickness played a huge role in Kick in a Box's victory. On one play, she played a bunt without using her hands and instead kicked the ball perfectly to the first baseman getting the batter out. On another play, there was a pop up bunt that was too far for the pitcher to get to it, but b/c of Laurel's speed she managed to rush out there and catch it in the air for a out. This week, Laurel was the Dan Wilson of Kickball.
This weeks player of the week goes to James Short for his great plays at second base! He covered tons of ground on pop-ups, and racked up plenty of outs slowing the opposing teams offense. He also showed mad skills at the plate with a couple of big kicks that impressed his new team! Great job James
