Spiked Punch played so well in the first match that is was over in a quick 2. Melanie's sets were beautiful and Randy had huge blocks. Then the shoot out between Panda and Sweet Ts started. Every point was fought for and despite Cass's jump serves the Pandas managed to escape with a win. With only 5 players, Spiked Punch took on Panda and never let up. Watching you might have though each point was the last because the intensity never subsided. Congrats to Gavin for being player of the week and making everyone without a 40 vertical very jealous!
Gavin served, hit and played defense like it was all he knows. Even when his team lost their setter, he filled in the gap and let Dan and Randy take huge swings at the ball. He is player of the week for never letting up and enjoying every minute of it! Congrats on a well earned championship.
Kristen brought the fire tonight. She would set an amazing ball and then in the next play turn around and have a fabulous hit. She brought intensity to the court, an intensity that inspiried her teammates and scored points. She had a great team attitude and always had a smile on her face. Kristen, you are more then deserving of this weeks POTG. Keep it up and keep bringing the fire!
Randy was on fire tonight. Absolute fire. He had HUGE hits that just went across the net with speed of a cheetah. The hits were unbelievable. He also played smart offense, pushing and tipping where hits wouldn't have worked. He kept his head in the game and stayed cool. He also had serves that raced across the net and digs that popped up any and all hard hit balls to the middle of the court. He also had brillant sets that arched across his side of the court to his hitters. Basically you name it Randy did it. Great game Randy and keep it up!
Helen rocked it this week. To quote her captain, she had "kills galore". Helen was also super upbeat, laughing and having a good time while still playing seriuosly and competitivly. Her spirit is what Underdog is all about; having fun and playing hard. Helen also had rockin serves and sets. She knows how to handle the ball with style. She is a player to watch in the upcoming matches for her skills aw well as her attitude. Way to go Helen! Keep it up!
