In the Championship Game, it was the irresistible force against the immovable object as Back That Pass Up met their match in Sunday Brew Club. Both teams breezed their way into the final, but neither was prepared for the stiff opposition they were set to face. In an overtime game that was tied on five separate occasions, BTPU managed to escape with a 42-40 victory. Once it got to overtime, each team scored a touchdown, but it was clutch plays on offense and defense that made the difference. Quarterback Extraordinaire Scott Van Horn threw a clutch pass to complete the two pointer on the initial offensive possession. Then BTPU backed a pass up on Sunday Brew Club's two point try, clinching the championship. Congratulations to the winners!
Heading into the game between Back That Pass Up and Tacklemore, it was expected to be a competitive game, but that turned out to be an understatement. It was a back and forth affair throughout, as BTPU jumped out to an early lead and then traded touchdowns with Tacklemore until Tacklemore got a key stop and jumped out in front 26-20. The teams would continue to go blow for blow there until the final drive of the game. Tacklemore was clinging to a 41-34 lead, but Kyle Barlow would not allow his team to be denied. Bartlow had a key catch, then caught a touchdown with no time on the clock to pull his team within one. Then on the ensuing two point conversion attempt Kyle caught the game winner for Back That Pass Up.
It was a game in which the team who had it last was destined for victory, but both teams put together an effort they could be very proud of.
It was an epic clash on Sunday between In the Dawg House and Back That Pass Up. In the Dawg House jumped out to a 30-14 halftime lead and it appeared that they would cruise to an easy victory. But Zandra Mamaril would have nothing of it, and led her team on an epic comeback. After coming all the way back to tie the scores 36,Zandra caught the 1 point conversion that ended up being the winning score. But Zandra also made the decisive play on defense, catching a game sealing interception with just 5 seconds left.
