While Lindsay Goodman played two solid games in the Bed Bugs double-header this week, the primary reason she is getting player of the week honors is because of a sick double play that she pulled off in crunch time to keep her team within striking distance. Team USA was threatening to put the nail in the coffin with the bases loaded in the top of the final inning and only one out, when Lindsay batted down a scorching ground ball right down the first base line. She then proceeded to tag out the runner going to second while at the same time leaping to make the out at first just in the nick of time. Lindsay and her team were not quite able to pull off the win but her clutch defense still dominated the post-game chatter, as it should of. Congrats Lindsay!
Last Wednesday, Steve Champeau turned in one of the most impressive defensive performances that I have ever seen. From his right-center field position he somehow accounted for 75% of his teams outs. By the middle of the game, the opposing batters were doing everything they could to avoid him. But due to his excellent speed and anticipation skills their efforts were futile and Steve continued to dominate all over the field until the game's end.
Toni had both teams having fun with her boisterous personality, engaging smile, and friendly kickball attitude.
She led off the game with fun, and I swear I thought she'd won a new car when she caught a line drive early in the game.
Great attitude, Great fun, Great game Toni!
