First Place

Spring Co-ed Kickball at Ballard Boys & Girls Club Sundays

It would be a mostly defensive battle for the championship with both teams limiting their mistakes and making some truly amazing plays in the field. It was Kickelob early with David making every catch in center and Jennifer with a hot line-drive catch at 3rd and they were up 3-0 after 2. Then Shingletown came alive with Michael making not one but 2 out of this world running catches deep down the right field line keeping the score close. Next up was Erik who got Shingletown going in the 3rd with a lead off triple followed by Kendall with an RKI bunt single to get their first run. She also scored in the inning and now the game was on! After a 2 run HR in the 7th to tie it up for Kickelob, Keegan came through against all odds for the go ahead RKI in the top of the 8th and they just needed 3 outs for the victory. They secured 2 of the outs -- the second was a liner to Carmen at 3rd who stood her ground [and probably some bruising] and made a great catch. Shingletown still had runners on base, 2 outs, game now tied and in the bottom of the 8th. Erik steps up to the plate and blasts another line drive into the outfield this one screams past everyone bringing in the winning runs and bringing home the championship in a hard-fought battle to the end. Congratulations!

Kendall Ruggles

Shingletown LLC

It was championship day and Kendall came prepared to dominate offensively -- and she did. In the first game, a high scoring 15-13 victory, she went 5 for 5 with 2 runs scored and was now warmed up and ready for the championship game. She got her team on the scoreboard in the 3rd with an RKI single and scored a run herself. Again in the 5th, she came through with another RKI single and another run scored giving Shingletown their first lead. Kendall would kick 2 more singles [she got on base every time for 2 games], one in the 6th and an even more important one in the bottom of the 8th that eventually came into score and was the winning run in the championship game. Well played Kendall!
