While John may not have had the best game of his life on Tuesday, and while he may have been reprimanded for his whistle blowing (reminiscent from his coaching days, perhaps?), there was not a single week when John showed up without a smile on his face and words of encouragement for everyone around him. There were many who even said "man, that guy really knows how to work the crowd," and they were right! He was often found a few lanes down from his teammates, cheering on opposing teams and spreading the fun and goofiness. John, thanks for always having a great time with everyone around you!
The scene on Tuesday night was a bit more subdued this week...but not any less serious. Teams all rolled in with their game faces on, ready to bowl their way to victory. Jane with the Softies was no exception.
The Softies team captain arrived with pep in her step and a fantastic tan that she got in Thailand. Her competition, Ride'em Rough, was so confused as to why her skin would be so dark; it's such an uncommon thing to see in Seattle these days! But Jane used their confusion to her advantage; while they were scratching their heads, she kept knocking down pins. And despite the fact that she had major surgery on her bowling-arm shoulder a mere five weeks ago, she managed to score a 116 on her first game to be her team's high-scoring female. The Softies fought hard now that they had their leader back in town, but unfortunately fell short of a win; they finished the night with a 1-3 score against Ride'em Rough. But she's promised to stretch and work on her shoulder this week so she can come back with a vengeance next week and walk away with a victory!
