Janelle improves significantly throughout her indy underdog season but it wasn’t just in her volleyball ability. She has had a smile on her face since game 1 and was increasingly a leader for her Indy team throughout the season. This was exemplified by them nominating her to be their captain for the final captains meeting. She came up confidently and energetically to meet the opposing captain and her demeanor immediately put the other at ease. Speaking to her volleyball skills specifically, the volley llamas served at her over and over, and she used all parts of her body to get it up! She showed her team being a part of underdog wasn’t about her athletic skill but about her positive attitude.
Thursday night in the crowded gym of First Baptist, anyone could have pointed out the phenomenal offensive skills Brandon K. was bringing to the table. He showed tremendous improvement on his JUMP serves throughout the game and really stepped up his attacks when his team was down a player. By the end of the night, no one wanted to be on the receiving end of his fire top spin jump serve. Through all this excitement, Brandon stayed humble through the kills and strong through the unlucky hits. He made sure his team was having fun and represented the true Underdog spirit. Great job Brandon K., until next week!!
Every time a new season begins, there's an unmistakable feeling in the air - some might say it's the static from fresh tshirts being pulled from their bags, but I choose to believe it's the feeling of friendships being made when Indy players unite for the first time. Now into Week 2, Christina R., from Indy V5, has found herself as a leader for her new-found vball family. From participating in the captain's meeting to helping their team's on-the-court organization take shape - Christina was an active voice and made some fantastic plays during the match. We see a future captain in the making!
