"So this is Seattle in July?" That's the rhetorical question that got asked a lot on Sunday and was usually greeted with commiserating groans. At least it was dry enough to play some softball! In our first game of the day Throbbing Buhners took on The BoomStix and the lame start to July was quickly forgotten. What could possibly distract us from the damp gloomy conditions? Well it could be the Throbbing Buhners' fan, mascot or possibly someone who lost a bet but regardless it was someone dressed head to toe in a full on gorilla suit! Actually the real distraction was the bat and glove of Throbbing Buhners' own Chris Mitchell! On defense Chris' glove at 2nd base kept BoomStix runners from stretching singles into doubles as he set that precendent with a couple would be runners who decided to test him. More impressively, Chris went 5-for-5 from the plate while smacking 3 home runs including a grand slam! Each time Chris would smash another ball well out of reach of The BoomStix defense the gorilla would go bananas up in the stands! Throbbing Buhners went on to win 16-9 thanks to great teamwork, great fan(s) and especially thanks to Chris Mitchell our Player Of The Week!!!
