Spring Gentlemen's Flag Football at Juanita HS Sundays

Led by QB extraordinaire Ricky Martin, and Defensive Whiz Tom Phillips, the Fear Boners came all the way up from the 6-seed to take the championship.

In the semi-finals, the Defending Spring League Champion, Slumpbusters, presented a formidable challenge, as they jumped out on top early, before FB responded. Kevin Swiryn's relentless pressure bottled up the Slumpbusters' QB enough to get a few much needed defensive stops. On offense, Martin used his rocket arm to spread the field early, and then pick apart the holes in the secondary from there, leading the way to a 41-32 victory.

In the finals, it was more of the same from Martin and Phillips. The two combined for a TD midway through the second half to put the "Bone-Yay's" ahead 35-20. However they missed the two point try and left the door open just a sliver, and The Tribe nearly came all the way back. After two unanswered touchdowns, The Tribe just missed on a two-point try to take the lead and it appeared all hope was lost trailing 35-34 with little time remaining. But then the Tribe got one more stop and if FB was going to win it, it would be up to their defense to do the same. After The Tribe got inside the numbers, the Fear Boners were equal to the test, and staged an epic goal line stand that secured the victory. It was a great effort by both sides, but there could be only one winner. Congratulations to the Fear Boners!
