The Midwest Migrants were unbelievable this season capturing a undefeated season. Midwest Migrants only lost a single set all season long and grabbed the number 1 seed going into the playoffs.
This tight knit group ribbed on each other all season long, but it seemed to only bring each other closer as they were all smiles during all of it. They took that joyful chemistry right into the playoffs were they defeated We Don't Dive to move to the championship against the Whacking Balls.
Midwest Migrants started off strong behind the strong net play by Dave. Dave was having his way when it came to spiking the ball. His location was key, finding the openings time and time again. Chad also stepped up to take a leadership role to call out all of the balls for his team. Even from their strong play, the game started to slip away a bit as the Whacking Ball came storming back. But the Midwest Migrants never lost their composure and took the first set 21-18.
The second set was just like the first set, except this time the Midwest Migrants didn't have any slips. They played in-sync the whole time covering the whole court. Chad continued to be vocal and showed off his passing abilities as well. Rachel had the all-around skills and showcased it throughout the whole game. She proved to be the best setter on the court giving multiple opportunities for Dave to throw it down. Jaclyn was the soul of this team the whole season and continued that tonight with her great attitude and spirit. She had a way to keep the game at ease by her joyful attitude and showed a ton of hustle on the court reaching for balls. Midwest Migrants ended up winning the second set and the championship 21-15.
Midwest Migrants were the ultimate team that had all the tools it took to win the Underdog Volleyball Championship. Come next season, be ready Underdog players because the Midwest Migrants are looking to make a repeat!
With only 3 players on the court, Rachel had to be virtually perfect tonight. Rachel did not make a mistake on the court, making perfect passes and even saving countless balls that would have gone against them. Her leadership was off the charts! Rachel was vocal about every ball, giving her teammates clarity on who needed to get the ball. No matter what came at Rachel, she always had an answer. Great job tonight!
