Most of Team Poop Boy's victims were beaten long before they even rolled their first ball. With their boisterous, infectious energy sometimes bordering dangerously close to obnoxious, their opponents find themselves in despair. Or trying to drink the pain away. The playoffs were no different.
In the first round Team Poop Boy went up against grizzled three-time consecutive champions, the Pinheads. And early on, the confidence of the veterans seemed to negate the energy of TPB, as the Pinheads crept to an early lead. But behind their leader, um, Poop Boy, the energy level rose with the noise level, and the pulled away late to pick up the victory.
Meanwhile, in the other semi-final, and probably match of the evening, Spare Ribs and Wing Nuts matched off in a classic. The teams traded the lead back and forth the entire game, and the outcome was in doubt right up until the end. But led by Matt's 194, the Wing Nuts pulled out a four-point win.
But the night belonged to Team Poop Boy. After rolling to the championship victory, the team was uncharacteristically quiet. Their captain-Poop Boy-sat quietly in a chair, looking at his scoresheet. Then, with a small fist pump, he said quietly, "we did it."
Yes, you did, Mr. Boy. You did. Congrats.
In their other Underdog league, Team Poop Boy was always the bridesmaid, never the bride. But behind the spirit and leadership of Jason, the Poop finally floated to the top. Congrats!
A soggy scroe sheet couldn't hide the fact that Zack put up two monster games to lead "Team Poop Boy" across the finish line and show that he truly is the "poop" - Nice work Zack
After his team lost game one by a wide margin, Patrick knew that he had to step up his game to overcome the large deficit. He started game #2 with 5 straight strikes on the way to a capped 205 score and a 1198 to 1186.
