During the regular season, Nuff Said had a near perfect record. Their lone loss was to top seed Icy Hot, who they hoped to meet in the championship game. But they would need to survive a defensive showdown with Comeback Records first.
Trailing most of the game, Nuff Said added a couple of late runs to tie the game and force extra innings. After pitching a clean top half of the frame, Brian Oneil came up in the bottom of the eighth with a chance to send his team to the championship game. Feeling no pressure, he calmly scorched a liner down third to bring in the winning run. Nuff Said had survived and advanced, but now they would face the team that gave them their lone defeat early in the season, Icy Hot.
With revenge on their minds, Nuff Said started slowly falling behind by a couple of runs. But led by some more late inning heroics by Anna Denny, Icy Hot's lead would fall and Nuff Said would get their payback. What a thrilling playoff run that was topped off by the ultimate prize, an Underdog Kickball championship! Congrats to the champions!!
In the championship game, Brian put on a defensive display. Whether it was tracking down pop ups or gunning down would be bunters, he did it all. Brian's defensive prowess was a huge part in securing the championship for his team. But...if it wasn't for his clutch walkoff hit in extra innings of the semi-final game, there wouldn't of even been a chance to take the title home. Great play all night, Brian! Congrats to the champions!
Ben was the ultimate competitor, team player and sportsman. With his team's first opponent limited on players, Ben being the great captain that he is, volunteered his services to what initially was the opposing team. Like a MLB player being traded on game-day, Ben had to trade in his jersey and clean out his locker and immediately make his way to the opposing dugout. While performing at a high level for his new team, Ben's trade was ultimately vetoed after about the 3rd inning as more reinforcement came so now Ben was shipped back to his original team. Not deterred, Ben played with the same skill, passion and statistical greatness as though nothing ever changed. Not lost in all of this was the fact that Ben played a double header... Way to support your team, competitors and the league, Ben! Much appreciated!
