The offense exploded out of the gates by scoring 4 runs in the first inning. That was all they needed as Enoch Lish pitched a shutout.
The real story, though, was the team defense behind Enoch. Although it was a little shaky the first couple of innings in their first playoff game, the Midget Assassins buckled down and didn't give up a single run the last 4 innings of game 1 or at all in the championship game.
Christian made a nice over-the-head catch, and Stephanie added some aggressive base-running.
All in all it was the complete package. Impressive pitching, stellar defense, and offense on demand.
Since this award can only go to one player, Enoch Lish gets to carry home the hardware. He pitched a complete game shutout in the championship game, which is certainly no small feat.
His teammates should share the award as they backed up his pitching with great team defense. No pitcher can earn a shutout without help for the supporting cast.
In a very close playoff game that saw the Midget Assassins fall behind 7-1 in the third, Kim rallied her team to victory. The Assassins chipped away at the lead in the 4th and 5th and exploded with 5 runs in the 6th to take a 9-7 lead.
Kim scored the go-ahead run after a sliding safely into second and home. The victory wasn't earned without some battle scars as Kim had a baseball-sized strawberry (or raspberry as some of you call it) on the back of her thigh.
On the defensive side Kim recorded several outs playing first base. Three of these plays were quite close, and one was a killshot that beat the baserunner.
