Notes

First Place

Spring Co-ed Kickball at Ballard Boys & Girls Club Sundays

After upsetting their higher seeded opponents in their semi-final matches, Team Blue and Callahan Concierge were set to meet in the championship, cementing their status as the league's two best teams. However, while Callahan was playing their second match in as many hours, going straight from their semi-final win into the championship game, it was the rested Team Blue that showed signs of fatigue in the later innings of their matchup. Perhaps the adrenaline combined with the rhythm they had established gave Callahan the advantage. Perhaps Team Blue had psyched themselves out while watching the other semifinal match in between winning their own and the championship. Either way, their limited numbers, which allowed them to play fast and loose during the season, finally caught up with them, as Callahan repeatedly found holes in the defense to kick a ball through. As Blue became more frustrated and dejected, The Concierge only got stronger, cementing the game with a final score that bore little resemblance to the close game it started as.

Congrats, Callahan! Welcome to Underdog!

POTW: Janaira Wargin

Callahan Concierge

Janaira Wargin had all the right moves Sunday afternoon, and the swagger to go with it. It wasn't enough for Janaira to just believe her team was going to win the championship, though, she backed it up with stellar play. She displayed great defense at first, including one tripping, er, excuse me, DIVING catch. On offense, although a bit eager at the plate, she showed a great diversity in her kicks, able to lay down a quality bunt, or bloop it into the outfield. In the end, her teammates vote was unanimous and Janaira was crowned the championship POG
