After breezing through the regular season, Lil T toughed it out in their 2 closest games of the year. After taking care of business with Chico's Bail Bonds in their playoff opener, they faced a defensive battle with Ur'nTrouble. The game was scoreless through the first 2 and a half innings until Lil T put up 2 quick runs in the bottom of the 3rd. Ur'n Trouble came back to within 2 runs in the 5th. Lil T answered with a big inning, scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the 5th to essentially put the game away.
They also faced a stiff challenge in the championship game. It looked like the Beer Batters might run away with it early. After a 1-1 first inning, the Beer Batters put up 6 in the top of the 2nd inning, tearing through the Lil T defense. Lil T would respond in the bottom of the inning, getting their sticks going and getting 6 runs of their own.
They then put up 7 more runs total in the 3rd and 4th to take a big lead. Their defense would hold up as well, allowing only 3 runs the rest of the way to secure the championship.
Christin's 4-4 game to start the day set the tone for her team as they won 3 in a row to win the championship.
Can you spell enfuego? Donnelle Nicaise from Lil T and the Fabulous 9 can: 2B, 1B, 3B, 2B, 1B, 2B, 3B, 1B, 2B. That is correct, this week's player of the week by a landslide is Donnelle Nicaise who went 9x9 in their Sunday night double header in which Lil T and the Fabulous 9 outscored their opponents 38-2, thanks in part to the offensive dominance of Donnelle. Defenses had no answer as she burned the outfielders for 4 doubles and 2 triples tallying up 17 total bases!!! Congrats Donnelle for putting on a free hitting clinic at Lower Woodland and earning this weeks Player of the Week!!!
This weeks player of the week goes to Jen Escalera! She helped her team win both games of their double header, with great plays in the outfield, and a very hard hitter. The big play came in the first game win she was chasing down a fly ball, when she went down herself, as she did a few cartwheels, and other floor routines popped up just in time to make a great catch, and spoil a rally before it started!! Great job Jen!
