The tention was high, the score was close, and each team was fighting tooth and nail for the Championship game and rights to finishing the Spring indoor volleyball seaon on top! Game one set the tone for the rest of the night....a straight up dog fight....Underdog style. With winning the previous match, 2-1, Ballers: Season Quatro was energized and eager for more. Damaged goods came out hitting hard with a victory of 25-16. It seemed as though Ballers were starting to fade as the second set started. But with one solid hit from David, the Baller's momentum changed and challlenged Damaged goods to a blocking deul. At this point the rallies were getting longer and the hits were gettiing hotter. As the old Nintendo NBA Jam announcer would say, "Things are Heating Up" would explain the tone and atmosphere in Frist Babtist. The Baller's fought back to win the second set, 25-20. As both teams battled the last set came down to endurance. With Baller's already battling a rough road from Stimulus Package, the key was to win the vollies and out energize the opposing team. Damaged goods pushed a big run with both setters presenting fantastic opportunities for their hitters around the middle of the match. Then out of know where the Baller's battled back to two points. Damaged goods had to "Dig Deep" and swing hard if they were going to seal the deal. Damaged goods stepped up to the challenge and Battled for the victory, 25-23. It was a fun game to watch and all three teams diserve respect. Congrats to Damaged Goods for a strong performance and First Babtist bragging rights!
Matt showed strong leadership for his team this week. In the begining of the last match, he struggled with his hits. Volleyball can be so mental and frustrating if one thing doesn't go according to the plan. Matt defied his frustration and rose up and finished the game with three strong cross court hits that got Damaged Goods back on track and eventually the victory. Great performance.
Talk about a serving machine!!! One good ball was close all three matches, but when Staci went to that back line she served them off the court. She had about 5 aces a game... AWESOME!!!
This week's Player of the Week goes to Katrina from Damaged Goods! Katrina started off the league with some huge hits and lots of hustle. She was an ace server and her passes were beautifully on target. Katrina's all around excellent play lifted her team to to a 3-0 win. They may call themselves Damaged Goods, but Katrina was all perfection!
