After each taking their semi-finals matches to three games, Notorious DIG and Gina and Friends faced off across the net for the final showdown. These two teams put their heart and soul into the match. Made visible by the level of play during and exhaustion after. With long rallies and many exciting moments, Notorious and Gina, put on a fun show to watch tonight.
The thing that stood out the most to me in this match was the level of scrappiness on both sides of the court. Not just in them throwing themselves on the floor to save a ball, but up at the net as well. Each player played smart and watched for those open holes to tip, chip or dink the ball for a point. Don’t get me wrong, both teams came out swinging hard as well and again their scrappiness showed.
Digging off the block was also a huge strong suit for these finale players. I don’t think I have ever seen so many digs off of blocks as I did tonight. Defenders were ready and waiting for the return to come and kept the play going by popping the ball back in the air for another try. This is not always an easy task as the ball flies off the blockers hands at weird angles and rapid speeds, but that did not affect these players.
The last highlight that needs to be mentioned is the stellar serve receive for Notorious DIG and Gina and Friends. There were definitely some aces, as should be expected, but the passing talents of these athletes were present tonight. This left the majority of the point scoring at the net, which made for a spectacular display.
Of course there is only one team who can be crowned champs in the sports that we play. Though the games were close one team rose above the other. This seasons the championship reign goes to Gina and Friends!!
