The Empty Pitchers
Aaron Pyon's 3 run Home Run with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th inning led The Empty Pitchers to an opening night win over Here for the Shirts. Here for the Shirts had rallied for 3 runs in the top of the 6th to tie the game, but were stymied in their 7th inning AB leaving the game tied going into the bottom of the 7th. After an opening single and two quick outs and another single, Aaron sat on a 1 strike pitch and hammered it over the left field fence for the walk off homer. Great job Aaron, very Dramatic!

POTW: Dave Matter
Team Fund of Fun
In what undoubtedly be one of the best games of the season, Dave Matter hit a 2 run home run in the top of the 8th inning to lead Team Fund of Fun to a 7-5 victory over Here for the Shirts. Team Fund fell behind early in the game 5-1, but held Here for the Shirts scoreless the last 5 innings (ala Mariners) and subsequently tied it in the 6th. After a scoreless 7th inning, Dave hit a towering homerun to left field with one aboard to put Team Fund in the lead. Some stellar defensive plays in the bottom of the 8th left Here for the Shirts with the bases loaded and preserved the victory. Well Done, Dave!

Buntin' Is A Habit
Gary Lai was a one man wrecking machine in Buntin is a Habit's come from behind win over the Swingers. Trailing 10-2 in the 3rd inning, Buntin rallied for 10 runs to take the lead. Lai's 3 run home run led the way. The Swingers retaliated for 10 runs in the 4th inning to again take the lead, but from that point on were held scoreless by Lai's pitching. Gary also added a couple of singles and a triple as Buntin clawed their way back into the lead at 21-20. Then he was able to shut down a 7th inning rally, stranding 2 men on base, by catching a shot back to him on the mound and doubling up the runner on first base. Great game, Gary!

Da Bad News Bears
In what turned out to be an incredible game, Jason Freeman's outstanding defense in the field was key in Da Bad News Bears securing a hard fought win over My Salsa in the first round of the play offs. On two occasions Jason made spectacular "home run robbing" plays going up and bringing back to sure home runs that would have surely made the game closer or maybe even given My Salsa the lead late in the game. Truly amazing! At the plate he was an absolute terror going 5 for 5 with 3 bombs while racking up 7 runs batted in and 5 runs individual runs scored. Hats off to Jason this week for an outstanding performance and for leading Da Bears to the next round of the play offs.
