Their style is relentless and that served them well, as the Bayside Tigers won 2 hard fought games to capture the Soft Core title at Jaunita High School.
In the semi-final against the Funbags a touchdown pass late in the first half to Lindsey Costa seemed to swing the momentum in the Tigers favor, leading to a a 31-25 victory and a berth in the title game. In the championship game, a couple of touchdowns early in the 2nd half swung the game in Bayside's way and they were able to hold off Who's Dis, 35-20.
In the championship game, Bayside and Who's Dis traded TD's in the first possesions, but ultimately Bayside had a 20-7 halftime lead. Who's Dis scored a touchdown on their first drive in the 2nd half to pull within 6 at 20-14, but could never close the gap.
Bayside was led by Kenny Jarman and Jayson Hallgren, who made key plays on both offense and defense. An unsung hero of the game was Laura Guyman, who made key first down catches throughout the night.
Who Dis advanced to the championship by coming from behind to defeat Double Down, 34-30.
All in all, it was a fantastic night of flag football in miserable conditions, but we must raise a glass to the Bayside Tigers, winners of the Jaunita soft core championship!
