Andrew Foo
they
Andrew wins this week's Player of the Week award for a couple of BOOOOMING shots, including a 3 run home run that started the scoring for his team. He almost kicked one out to right field, but was called back because he was a little too eager and kicked it early. No worries, he came right back and smashed the next one to left field to plate 3. Congrats Foo!

Julie Mendoza
Kick It & Quit It
Julie M earns this week's Player of the Week award for her stellar pitching performance, allowing only 1 run in 7 innings. That is quite the feat for baseball, which makes it that much more difficult for kickball. She was a very pitch-to-contact pitcher, letting her defense do all of the work and she just basked in the glory of being a phenomenal kickball pitcher. And did it all with a great smile on her face. Congrats Julie!

Jesse Rinehart
HasKicks
Jesse played solid on both sides of the ball Thursday night. He went 4/5 at the plate with a huge HR in the 6th inning and a single and double as well for 5 RKIs. He was all over the fields defensively--making running catches in the outfield and had a huge catch and throw for a key double play ensuring victory for the HasKicks.

Julie the birthday girl earns this week's Player of the Week award. Why? Well, for one, it was her BIRTHDAY! And second, she played a great game, placing great bunts and getting on base every time. She also wreaked havoc on the bases, taking the extra base every opportunity she could, including a daring slide into second. Congrats Julie!
Ant was clearly feeling it today with a huge game offensively to go along with his nice pitching performance. The pitches were coming smooth and true to the plate all night long and his kicks were HUGE!! He started the offensive show with a big 2 out run scoring triple in the 1st. He followed that with a nice single in the 3rd, but his big moment came with 2 on in the 4th when he blasted a high drive down the left field line that ended up bouncing on Westlake Ave for a 3-run jack. It was a complete performance for Ant and led his team to a big 12 run win.

Milan Dhar

Ahh, the final inning. The inning where heroes are made and legends are born. Legends like Milan, who kicked in 3 runs to tie the game in the top of the 7th inning, then raced around and scored the go-ahead run on a single 2 kickers later. It was because of Milan that his team won, and that is why he is the Player of the Week.

Natalie
HasKicks
Natalie had things rolling on both sides of the ball with stellar defense and dominating offense. At 1st base, she made some amazing catches off some very hot throws including back to back outs in the 4th to end a rally. Her kicks were precise yet powerful--getting her on base multiple times and crossing home twice for two runs scored. The most memorable moment was when she over-ran 3rd base and made a great dive back to the bag just beating the rocket throw that seemed to glance harmlessly of her body. Thanks for playing hard and making it fun!

Bjorn Johnson
Bjorn steals the show, finishes game with amazing double play!
They had an uphill battle, fielding only 8 players against a powerhouse Mama. Bjorn put the team on his back, and willed his team to victory. Whether it was pitching brilliantly, fielding his position, or kicking in numerous runs, Bjorn did it all en route to an upset victory and willing this week's Player of the Week award. He ended the game in style, fielding a ground ball from the pitcher position, touching 1st base and whirling around to nail a runner on the way to the plate in the foot just before the run scored. Awesome job Bjorn and team!

Ant Brown
Kickin' the Balls
Pitching in the rain, watching his team mis play and dropping a very slick ball would have frustrated the average player... But not Ant on this WET and dreery evening. Keeping his team alive with great fielding at his position, Ant made his biggest mark while at the plate. Not only was Ant 3 for 3 at the plate, he found his team down by a run when up to bat in the late innings and calmly booted a 3 run home run to give his team the lead and ultimately the victory. Ant finished the evening with a triple and 2 home runs.

Dillon Sykes
The Wounded War Hero
This past Thursday at Denny Park, Dillon of Kick It and Quit It made the best of a bad decision. Dillon sported some trendy shoes to the game that ended up making his feet quite sore throughout the contest - so sore that he had to kick with his opposite foot! Nevertheless, Dillon played all 7 innings of his game, recording a clutch RBI in a crucial moment while batting switch. For fighting through the pain and performing in the clutch, Dillon is our player of the week.

Seth Triezenberg
Pitches Be Crazy
Seth had a tremendous offensive night and was very solid on defense as well. He mastered the right field line kick which is a toe-punt to right field that stays fair and goes far--good enough for 2 HRs and 5 RKI. He also made some great plays at first using a quick redirection to tag a runner not once but twice and made a big double play that ended a huge opportunity for Work Friends and prevented a big inning. Seth takes his kickball seriously but also seems to have a good time as well--thanks for keeping it fun!
Ryan had a handful of over-the-top awesome plays that really made the difference in advancing Mama to the championship game. It started in the first with a runner on and the sun setting over the trees--the ball was launched like a rocket, sailed over the LF fence and bounced across the street for a 2-run HR. He followed that with an RKI double and then a single nearly kicking for the cycle. His D was just as good featuring several great, running catches but he had the catch of the season when he climbed the center field hill and crashed into the fence to make an amazing catch that prevented at least 2 runs in what ended up being a 1-run victory.
Coley really came through on both sides of the ball and in both games of a huge playoff double-header for Kickin' the Balls. In game 1 he was nearly shutdown in CF and at the plate he came through nicely with a sac fly, single and double with 3 RKI. But in game 2, to earn a trip to the championship, his defense in CF was special and ended up being the difference in a 1-run victory. Two amazing twisting line-drive running catches late in the game were nice, but he set the tone in the 1st inning. It was a monster kick with runners on that surely looked to be over the fence--Coley turned and ran up the hill and over a few steps and immediately turned and jumped up in front of the fence to make the best catch at Denny park this season.
In a very low-scoring and defensive minded championship matchup, Anthony had the lone scoring play for Kickin' the Balls. It was the bottom of the 6th inning--score still tied 0 to 0, with a man on 1st when Anthony drilled a kick deep to right field that got past the fielder and rolled on for a 2-run homerun that was the difference in what ended up as a 2-1 championship victory.
