Mark It 8, Dude had a near perfect season - coming into playoffs with 18 points, just one point behind the first place team. Any night this season, if you stopped by their lane, you would find big smiles, curve balls, and closed frames. You might have even seen them donning patriotic attire on BYO Theme night.
During the semifinals, Indy B5 was a tough opponent! Only separated by 3 points, this was not going to be a cake walk. Coming down the the 10th frame, Mark It 8, Dude needed to do some damage. And they pulled through! With a margin of 25 pins, this was the closest playoff we saw tonight!
(Meanwhile.... just 2 lanes over, in an unexpected turn of events, the #4 seed moved on to the championship game.)
There is no historic data on a Gangsta's Sparadise/Mark It 8, Dude match up. This would be the first game between these two all season. One game to show their stuff and bowl their hearts out.
Now, Mark It 8, Dude had home field advantage, as they stayed on lane 10, while their opponent had to switch lanes. Low an behold, home field advantage was more of a disadvantage. Unlike the balls they rolled, lane 10 was not smooth operation. Mark It 8, Dude needed the mental fortitude to withstand unexpected game breaks and their balls being lost (temporarily).
Gangsta's Sparadise was the first team to complete the game. It was not looking good for Mark It 8, Dude. With just over 1.5 frames to go, they needed to knock down a whole lotta pins.
The time came to tally..... it looked like the Gangsta's would be crowned league champs..... but 11 pins happened. Mark It 8, Dude held an 11 point margin and the title league champs!
