PB Army Rolls
Kalie Browne Leads the Charge
PB Army is back in the saddle early this year in January and already they are looking like they are picking up where they left off last season. Their bats are hot, their defense is strong and they are looking to mix it up with anybody who wants to get into the ring with them. Led by Brent, Troy, Kalie, Carrie and the rest of the crew they are going to be a tough team to beat. Congratulations to Kalie for an outstanding performance and congratulations to PB Army for their first win of the new campaign.

Balanced From Top To Bottom
This year a new team has emerged in USL and they are absolutely taking the league by storm. The Frozen Ropes are a powerful, smart, high energy team that will demolish you if you don't watch yourself. Their bats are always on, their defense has no holes really and they are going to be a handful for any team in this league to deal with. They dropped 31 runs in their second game of the day and they did it effortlessly which is scary enough in itself and should cause concern for the league's other teams. We are not crowning them champs anytime soon but you had better bring your A game when you tangle with them. Good luck.

Caitlin Hansen Puts On Hitting Clinic
PB Army is starting to find their form and for the rest of the leagues teams this should be scary. Their bats are firing on all cylinders and their defense is getting tighter by the game. They took the Frozen Ropes out to the woodshed on Saturday ripping off 24 runs over six innings and sending a message that they are the team that the championship road will go through. Caitlin Hansen caught fire in the first inning and continued to burn at the plate the entire game. She sparked PB Army early on with an inside the park home run, followed by a triple and 2 doubles. She didn't charge for putting on a free hitting clinic but next team up may have some costs to cover. Two words for Caitlin....Beast Mode. Great win PB Army and we will see you again in action next week.

Nate Powers Ropes at Plate
The Frozen Ropes are finally putting it all together and are playing some very good softball. They handled perennial powerhouse Bombers on Saturday with some great defense and some very impressive offense. With the playoffs fast approaching the Ropes look like they could definitely make some noise. Their bats are hot and they take no prisoners when they get on the field. Led by Nate who batted 5 for 6 with 2 HRs, 2 triples and a double, he was the offensive spark they needed and they rode on his back all game long. This team is for real and if you take them lightly you will find yourself with an L really fast. They are balanced on both sides and they know how to win. Great win Ropes and great performance Nate. See you guys next week.

Game ended in tie because the lights were not working behind the plate making it hard for batters and defenders to see the ball.

Team Starting to Gel As Playoffs Approach
The Bombers have been playing for USL for as long as I have been with USL and year after year they seem to put it all together at the right time and snatch crowns from the hands of the unsuspecting. They are powerful at the plate throughout their line up and when they hit the on switch on their bats, good luck and I hope you can keep up run wise. If not then it's going to be a long evening for you and a not quite so enjoyable one. They hustle, their defense is as good as it gets and their base running reminds me of a professional baseball team, very sound and not too greedy. They are peaking right now like times past so please beware. Good luck to the rest of the teams in the league and please don't forget to bring your A game.

Bombers Do It Again
Bombers Do It Again
Takes Title In Grand Fashion
The Bombers showed up on Saturday just like I thought they would. They struggled a little during the regular season because of personnel challenges. On Sunday they had everybody on deck and ready to go resulting in an epic win and one of the most thrilling games in recent USL history. The fight was not easy as the Frozen Ropes put up heavy resistance and would not go away. Down 20 to 13 heading into the sixth inning they scored 7 unanswered and tied the game going into the 7th. Well, after both teams could only score once in the preceding inning it took 8 innings to settle the score. In a thrilling ending the Bombers scored 5 runs in the top of the 8th and held the Ropes to 2 runs to seal the deal. Congratulations Bombers on yet another USL title.
