Coming up from the 4th place seed, Hit Heads was in for a work out tonight. Starting off the tournament this evening was an intense game of tug of war between Emerald City Upstarts-Indy #1 vs. Hit Heads. Throughout the entire match the two teams were head-in-head struggling to get a lead with Hit Heads winning the first game and Indy#1 winning the second. The third was a great battle; but Hit Heads had their eye on the prize and pulled through with a second win keeping them in the tournament. In the second game Hit Heads competed against Flo's Heroes, who were seeded 1st at the beginning of the tournament making this another gripping match. From the start it was truly hard to tell who would pull out with a win. Both teams calling faults, balls, and cheering with every successful play; no one had any clue that Hit Heads would pull through and win the match in 2 (20-25, 22-25). In the third game Stunt Squirrels (seeded 3rd) played Notorious D.I.G. (seeded 2nd) in a breezy two games, leaving the championship match to Hit Heads vs. Stunt Squirrels. This match deserves to go down in history. The first play lasted FOREVER ending with a comment from Stunt Squirrels Robert Fife, "this is going to be a long night." But, he was wrong. The first game was out of control; both teams were here to get a championship title tonight but in the second game Stunt Squirrels to a turn for the worst. Hit Heads pulled through with a win of 25-16! At any point in the season, I would have never guessed that this team had the hearts of champions, but they were no doubt here to win tonight and would take nothing less. In the words of Matt from Hit Heads, "this is the first of many."
