Anthony Brown
Base Gods
Anthony Brown gets our first player of the week of the season for his cannon of a right leg. Anthony had two homeruns in our first game and almost had a third, but unfortunately one was called back for an early kick. His home runs turned out to be the difference makers in a defensive batlle. He also played stellar defense from his pitching position. Nice work Anthony.

Allie Schmahl
Basic Pitches
Allie S earns this week's Player of the Week award for her outstanding defense at third base. Kyle Seager better watch her to take notes, she was snaring all of the line drives and even called off her shortstop on a popup that she turned into a triple play! Fantastic showing by Allie and all of her Basic Pitches.

Anthony Williams
Base Gods
2 Outs, bottom of the last inning, tying run on base. This is the moment most athletes (and Underdogs) dream of. The opportunity to win the game for your team! Anthony stepped to the plate in this exact situation on Monday night and drove a ball so deep to right field if there were any kids playing on the play structure (it was raining, so they weren't), we would have had to say "HEADS UP!". As soon as he launched it he knew it was gone, he just had to race around 2nd base fast enough before the ball went out of play. He did, and his team won the game. Great game!

Devin Luco
Base Gods
Rarely does a few defensive plays make someone earn a Player of the Week nomination, but Devil L made a couple of plays on Monday night that were anything but ordinary. The first was a lazy popup that he made an incredible Willy Mayes style catch on, and the second was a screaming liner that he reeled in with one hand. I know kickball players can't control where they kick it, but I know for sure that players will try to avoid Devin at short stop.

Brian Fiore-Silfvast
You're My Wonderball
Brian F earns this week's Player of the Week award for crushing a mammoth homerun and for being a great team captain. Brian showed up early with a lineup ready to go. He started assigning positions before the game started, even moving people around in between innings. He lined up his players in order they were to kick so no one was confused, and he crushed a mammoth 3 run bomb that almost bounced and cleared the fence in left. Brian and his Wonderballs are a perfect example of a true Underdog team.
Ahh, a true cycle. It doesn't happen in baseball too often, and we don't quite have the records to determine how rare it is in Underdog Kickball. I've umped a game or two, and this was the second cycle I've seen. Larry V had a dynamic game, going 5-5, including the coveted Single, Double, Triple, and Home Run. Larry also kicked in 3 runs and was a great spark for his team. Well done!

Mike Moe
Recess Renegades
"Big" Mike Moe wins this week's Player of the Week award for leading his team to an extra-inning thriller on Tuesday night. It was a close game throughout, no team having more than a 2 run advantage. When he came up in the top of the 7th and down a run, he sent a ball flying to left to drive in the game tying score. In the top of the 8th, he came up again in a money situation, driving in 2 runs with a double in what would be a 3 run victory. Well done captain!

Michael Castro
Base Gods
Michael C earns this week's Player of the Week award for combining his offensive and defensive skills, leading his team to a close victory. At the dish, Castro went 3 for 3 and scored twice. On defense, he recorded 6 putouts at short stop, one that led to a crucial double play. Great play all around!

Brad Nelson
Basic Pitches
When asking who deserved Player of the Game, captain Brad N deflected his awesome achievements (game winning HR) and wanted to nominate someone else on his team. His team booed him and ultimately they decided that it was Brad who earned the award. Brad pitched a great game (allowing 5 runs in kickball is considered Cy-Young worthy) and, as always, crushed it at the plate. With his team only up 1 run in the top of the 7th, Brad crushed a mammoth HR to left field to score 2 and give his team some much needed insurance. The insurance payed out, as Kick Bicycle scored 2 runs in the bottom half before having a rally fall short. Basic Pitches walked away with a 6-5 victory, and Brad is to thank for that.
Marshelle had a really good game even with a wet game. She had 3 nice hits and scored a couple runs. Marshelle also had two good catches in the outfield and a really nice slide into third. On her slide, she ended up hitting her leg on the front of the base and after a little tending to of her leg she was able to preserve and keep playing through the injury. Marshelle had a great day and definitely embodied the Underdog spirit.

Mark S
Recess Renegades
After making some great plays in the field and knocking in some runs early in the game, the stars aligned for Mike in the bottom of the 7th. With 2 outs in the final inning of the game and nobody on base, Mike drove the ball into the outfield and took advantage of an errant throw to round the bases and give the Renegades a one run lead and the win.
You're My Wonderball forfeited to Sensual Winnebagoes.

Adam Heide
Basic Pitches
Adam chose a great day to break out and crush his first HR of the season. Although he hadn't been there for every game, he was itching to break his homer-less drought, especially with his captain crushing 2-3 a game. Adam dug in and crushed a ball to center field, racing around the bases to score 3 runs. He also added 2 triples to the mix, giving himself 10 total bases on the day. Not so Basic! Well done!
Casey put his team on his back in this game. He made at least ten catches on defense if not more, which contributed to holding the high powered offense of the opposing team to one run. Also he had an in the park homerun that would be one of the two runs that would help with the major upset. After watching his homerun the atmosphere completely shifted into Hardball's favor. It was a tight game and we probably won't see anything like it for the rest of playoffs.
Drew was playing most of these playoffs on one leg basically. He injured it trying to stop at second base and strained his knee in the dirt. But that wouldn't stop him from giving a player of the week worthy performance. He managed to kick a 2 run homer that was pivotal to his teams first win. And he played solid defense, which in turn he secured the last out to win them that game. His performance on a hurt leg was absolutely incredible.
