Spring Co-ed Softball In West Seattle Sundays

Both teams came to opening day in mid season form. Softest jumped out to an early 6-0, but Red Machine's bats heated up and kept it close. Jason hit several would-be-homeruns but since he hit them so hard they went out of play and ended up with triples. Softest scored 3 in the top of the 7th to pad their lead, but Red Machine rallied in the bottom of the seventh, get the tying run to the plate, but could manage to get him across. Well played, both teams.

Sarah B earns this week's Player of the Week award for captaining her team to two games, their first two underdog games ever. Although they had a rough first game, when asked "Did you guys at least have fun?", she responded with an emphatic "Hell Yeah!" They fared much better in their second game, a close one down to the wire. Sarah and her team had great sportsmanship throughout and never looked down upon themselves, having incredible fun doing so. Great job out there!

Jill E earns this week's Player of the Week award for crushing her 2nd homer in as many games. It wasn't a gimmie HR caused by errors, either. She lined a ball into the right-center gap and it just kept rolling as she raced around the bases. On a team of heavy hitters, Jill has proven herself among the best in recent weeks. Well done, Jill!

Riley M earns this week's Player of the Week for showcasing his rocket arm from left-center. I don't know how left-center would be classified in terms of baseball positions, maybe 7.5? If so, record two 7.5-3 putouts, which is a rare thing even in Underdog softball. With a cannon like that, you'd expect him to be a handful at the plate as well. Indeed he is, getting on base 6 times in two games to lead his team to victory. Well done!
