After the first initial game that ultimately decided who would continue onto the Championship game, Wild Sets vanquished Raptor Death Monkey. The final chapter for Wild Sets was to play Shank-opotamus, who were at the top of the bracket. Shank-opotamus always showed up with their game faces on, and on Tuesday night, intensity filled the air. WIld Sets had a lot to work up to. They were down two of their main players, one being the captain who injured himself in a softball match a few days prior, plus they were about to have their second game of the night.
Taking their time during warm-ups, both teams were determining who would play where and who was hot for hitting. The match began, every player's face was focused and serious. This was the championship game, this was the final say.
Wild Sets and Shank-opotamus were neck and neck through majority of the time. It was rally after rally, with only the result of a dominating hit to finish for the point. The fans on the sides were so excited and entertained. One of the players from Raptor Death Monkey, J.R. Rabago kept screaming "Beautiful Digs!" and captain Gough Chan of Wild Sets was at the edge of hit seat...Wild Sets took the first round.
With the help of some amazing one-hander saves by Kit and Hannah of Shank-opotamus, they managed to come back in the second round and tie things up. Could this get any more tense?!? Finally the third match came down to it, Wild Sets decided to finish what they started and they took the game ending 25 to 15. Awesome serves from Melissa and Brian of Wild Sets, and with the help of siblings, Erica and Shaun Jones, they knocked the socks off the other team. It was a successful win, and Shank-opotamus were great sports about it and were happy to play against such a hard-working team! Great game to everyone who participated!!!
