2 Legit 2 Kick, My Safe Word Is "Unicorn", Purple Reign...Balls!!, Team .08
POTW: Anton Vaynshtok
Kick Tease
A rare feat occurred Tuesday to end the final game of the night, and Kick Tease took full advantage of it. With 2 players on base, Anton Vaynshtok picked off a line drive from the kicker and quickly threw to second and first, completing a TRIPLE play to cap the win for his team. A terrific play, great job Anton!

POTW: Chris Lutz
2 Legit 2 Kick
Chris put together an impressive game.
At the plate, he punished the ball each time up, getting on base every time.
In the outfield, he had impressive range, a cannon arm, and instincts to boot.
Chris should help make 2 Legit a championship hopeful!

POTW: Christina Sullivan
Kick in a Box
Just when they needed it most, Christina Sullivan came up big for Kick In A Box in a game that came down to the wire. With their opponent scoring 6 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning, Kick In A Box desperately needed a big time play. With the bases loaded, Christina made a HUGE double clutch play in left field and kept all the runners at bay for fear of her Ichiro-esque cannon arm abilities.
That play proved to be the difference maker as Kick In A Box's defense held in the bottom of the 6th to preserve the win, 14-12.
Great game Christina!

POTW: Brian Reddick
Kicktastrophe!
A close first few innings between Team .08 and Kicktastrophe, ended quickly when Brian Reddick stepped up to the plate. Brian found his sweet spot and lasered a kick past the center fielder to score all runners including himself! On defense, Brian braced for a blazing kick from Team .08 and managed to pop-up the ball for his teammate to catch. Great job tonight!

POTW: Ken Wall
2 Legit 2 Kick
"Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals" is what Ken Wall's elementary school PE teacher always told him. Little did he know that following his teacher's advice would earn him POTW honors in Underdog Kickball years later!
Ken played non-stop defense all game and limited the scoring of Kicktastrophe when needed in the 7th inning. Nice job Ken!

POTW: Max Kay
Kick Tease
It took extra innings for Kick Tease to finally come out on top thanks in large part to Max Kay's stifling defense and game winning hit in the bottom of the 9th inning.
Down 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning, Kick Tease tied it up to break into kickball overtime. After no score by either team in the 8th, Max Kay came up big with one out and a runner on third by squeezing a single just between the shortstop and 3rd baseman, scoring the game winning run.
Nice game Max!
Eric Rupp was just following orders when he popped up in the 5th inning, after his coach told him, "Eric, just get it in the air." His next at-bat, his wise coach told him to keep it on the ground this time, and Eric did promptly on the next pitch with a huge game-sealing RBI single in the 7th inning. If only we could all follow orders to a "T" that well...Nice game Eric!

POTW: Katie Howard
2 Legit 2 Kick
Having a solid first-baseman (or basewoman) is a key component to getting wins in kickball. Katie got outs even when the throw wasn't the best by knocking it into the runner before they got to first. Bill Buckner could learn a thing or two from Katie. She also had some awesome kicks that produced runs when her team needed them.

POTW: Anton Vaynshtok
Kick Tease
Pure athletic prowess as a kickball pitcher can be rare, but with Anton Vaynshtok, you can always bank on a superb performance. Anton decimated his competition by catching line drive after line drive, keeping their opponent at bay for the entire game. With the golden foot on his side for the night as well, Anton made the game a terrific all around performance. Great game Anton!

POTW: Jacob Morris
Kicktastrophe!
Jacob Morris gets the nod for player of the week for leading his team to a solid victory over the Unicorns. While pitchers don't receive much glory on the kickball field, Jacob turned in the best performance that I've seen in a while. He made strike after strike and out after out look easy, which is the mark of a true ace.

POTW: Vanessa Carkonen
Kick Tease
This weeks player of the week goes to Vanessa Carkonen for not one but two unbelievable catches. Vanessa played right field had stole two monster shots from her opponents ACE kicker. Both shots were deep, hard, and high and Vanessa was able to steal both kicks with excellent fielding which were applauded by the other team! Great job Vanessa!

POTW: Daniel Briant
Unicorns Eat Opossums
Daniel played Ichiro like defense. On a game that wasn't going the way there team hoped, Daniel did everything to help his team come back. At one point Daniel got 5 straight outs unassisted. Including a diving catch and a over the head catch that no one thought he would catch up to. Gold glove defense for Daniel. Great job.

POTW: Rob Jacobs
Team .08
This week's player of the week goes to Rob Jacobs of Team .08. This trash talking baller made an acrobatic catch at shortstop and got right up off the ground to turn a heads up double play. Fortunately for Rob and Team .08, this double play DID count, even though according to new rules created by Rob (called Rob's rules), this would not have been a catch b/c after he caught it, he didn't land on his two feet. Just one of many extremely creative rules in this wide spread, Barnes and Nobles best sellers. On a serious note, Rob made it a good time for his teammates and the opposition. Thanks for keeping it light, Rob...and sweet play at short!
Most people don't realize the kind of strategy involved in kickball. It might look like a pretty simple game but there's more to it than meets the eye. Nobody understands this better than the captain of Kicktastrophe: Jacob Morris. After nine years in the league, he has mastered the mental aspects of the sport which makes his team a force to be reckoned with. For maximizing his teams potential with his brilliant strategies Jacob gets the nod for the Player of the Week. Congrats!
Pitching is a key element in kickball. Where you place the ball can make or break the game. Dan had no problem with that. He was getting kickers to fly out, ground out, and just flat get out. What really stood out was his base running. Dan would kick the ball and not stop till he was home, producing a lot of runs for Purple Reign...Balls!!. He ran those bases like a bat outta hell. Dan put the team on his back and carried them to victory. Great job Dan!
