Late Summer Co-ed Beach Volleyball at Golden Gardens Tuesdays

In case you hadn't heard, the new MarketFront opened this week downtown, but what you didn't hear was that the builders of the 2 million dollar addition to Pike were conflicted about what to call it. When it came down to it, the choice was between the MarketFront or naming it after this Underdog team, Spike Place Market. After weeks and weeks of going back and forth between the names, the builders came out to Golden Gardens to see this team battle it out on the sand. They watched Spike Place Market work for every point and they were so impressed and inspired by the dedication and beauty of their game, they decided to name the new structure after the team. They waited until after the third set to tell the team, and when they did Spike Place Market was honored, grateful, and completely speechless. Under the beauty of the sunset, the team thought about the privilege it would be to represent Underdog and Pike with their team name. However, much to the disappointment of the building company, the team was too humble to let a historic building be named after them. And that is how MarketFront was chosen as the name for the new Pike market front. ***

It would be impossible to choose a single player on My Bumps to be player of the week, which is why the whole team is being recognized! My Bumps may have started out beach volleyball as beginners, but ended up taking second place in the championships! Their growth throughout the season was tremendous, gaining recognition and kudos from their opponents. Their passion for the sport is heartwarming, and their spirit is beyond belief. For all of their hard work this season, My Bumps is our team of the week. Congratulations!
