Summer Co-ed Softball In West Seattle Sundays

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon one of the best games of the was between Softest Balls in the Land and Birds of War. Softest were win control most of the game holding on to a 3 run lead going into the sixth, but they just couldn't put away the Birds. The Birds scored 2 in the bottom of the 6th to pull within 1 and then held Softest to 0 runs in the top on the 7th. In the bottom of the 7th, Birds got their first 2 men on base, and in stepped Kim who laced a base hit scoring both runs giving the Birds a walk off victory. Congrats to both teams for a great game!

Regina Belche is player of the week this week not because of otherworldly stats or a game-winning home run. It is simply for making a catch. You might say it was an ordinary catch, but not for Regina. It required concentration and effort, and was one of the first catches she has made in this league. The celebration was terrific, as was the roar of her teammates. She took the ball to keep and remember the moment. Great job Regina!

Pitching 7 innings in a slow pitch softball game is no easy task. Pitching 20 innings? I couldn't imagine how it felt, but you can ask Riley B from Red Machine. He took over in the 2nd inning of their first (of 3) games and never looked back. He gave up only 5 in the first game, 20 in the second (there was no stopping the bats on either side) and then gave up only 5 in the championship game. Great pitching and great attitude, Riley B is this week's Player of the Week!
