Winter Co-ed Volleyball at Seattle Central Tuesdays

Spike Place Market, one of this season's two indy teams (GO INDY!!), is off to a solid start! This group not only has talent, they also have energy. Leading the charge is Merrill! Merrill is bringing team spirit, encouragement, and not to mention, some quality volleyball skills. This sports fan loves the mid-rally fist pump and constant communication. In a night where 12 matches are played, Merrill early stands out as a player with energy and enthusiasm. Keep it up!

Playing on an Indy team often means walking into an entirely new location and group of people - some might find this daunting while others take it in stride. Shout out this week to Traffic Cones' (formerly Indy V7) very own Alex for stepping up and being a leader on the court! Alex not only made some fantastic plays - he was a continuous presence on the court, providing positive energy. One of the key tasks that is often overlooked by teams ::cough cough:: is making sure to log each game's score. Alex kept the scoreboard updated and was an absolute joy to chat with! Thanks for being an Underdog player and we can't wait to have you back next season, Alex!

My favorite part about playing with and being an Underdog Field Admin is getting to meet and interact with so many wonderful players - from all walks of life. Volleyball is what brings us together every Tuesday at Seattle Central - a once a week micro-community or oasis filled with old friends and new. Start up a conversation with anyone you meet, and you have no idea where it will lead!
Shout out to this week's Player of the Week Danielle, from Spike Place Market! Not only is Danielle dynamic on the court - hustling and encouraging her teammates - but she is someone who is invested in the Underdog community and experience. Sometimes the stars align, and you look up to see a player entering the gym prepared for playoffs, and wearing a flying squirrel costume. That is just what happened when Grace entered the gym last night. Grace and the other Flying Squirrels had a great night of volleyball, and after taking a loss in the first game, flew back in the second to force a third and final game. This is such a great team! They are fun, have great attitudes, and really come together when they are under pressure. Having Grace representing the Flying Squirrels in costume last night was the perfect way to end the season, and send everyone home with smiles!
