Starting Off Hot
This weeks honors go to the Indy squad and their excellence on the field. This being the first game together they came out playing great and looked like they have been playing together for years. They all hit the ball solid and their defense was on lock down all day. Everyone chipped in on the victory, and the bar was set high for the rest of the season. Great job to all the players on the Indy team!

Ballard Drinking Team
Sometimes playing a sport that you haven't played in a real long time, can be.... well....disappointing. On Saturday, Kevin of the Ballard Drinking Team, who hadn't played baseball/softball in at least a decade, had NO problem finding groove. His team put him in left center to start out and he dominated the field, catching everything air mailed his way. At bat, his fluid lefty swing came back to him in a matter of one pitch. His base hits helped get a few runs in and show us all that it doesn't matter how long you've been out of a sport....sometimes you still HAVE IT!!

Pitch Slap
After trailing most of the game, The Crows came back in the 6th and 7th innings to tie and take the lead in the game. The bottom of the 7th inning saw Pitch Slap's bats get going again though. With a runner on 2nd base, Katie did what she had been doing all game and drilled a double the opposite way to right field. No Crows player could come close to it, resulting in the winning run.

Indy #71 turns rare triple play in win!
It was the last game of the day, also known as the Prime Time game...and as Prime Time games go this one did not disappoint. As Indy#71 faced off against Ballard Drinking Team you could tell that somebody came to play! As it turns out, that 'somebody' was Indy #71's pitcher Kati G. She kept Ballard Drinking Team off balance with a great mix of pitches and getting her defense set in optimal position to make a play. After the Indy #71's bats started heating up they jumped out to a nice lead, but late in the game Ballard Drinking Team was in position for a comeback with runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs! Getting her defense set she tossed a great pitch which was hit sharply to the shortstop for the first recorded out, but on an aggressive running miscue both base runners were running on contact. The shortstop rifled a throw to 3rd who then relayed to 2nd to complete a rare triple play! Amazing! Congrats to Indy #71 on an impressive 16-7 victory and to Kati G, pitcher extraordinaire and our Player of the Week!!!

Ben Brawner

Pitch Slap
It's a little unfair that Ben Brawner played shortstop for the Cardinals in their farm league system. He definitely makes it a little difficult for other teams who are hitting the crap out of the ball to reach base w/him out there.....the man stops everything. He makes clutch plays, including the most important out of the game...the last one. His digs were dope and his throws were perfect. Ben, you are one hell of a shortstop! How did the Cardinals cut you???!!!
