This midcore match was full of long rallies complete with many bump, set & spike sequences. Both Mustard Sl*ts and Hittin it from that Back have been playing in our leagues for years and are complete with skilled players. Tonight they all showed up ready to give it their all and go home with the title. The front line was full of smashing kills and stealthy defense covered the back row. It was a fun game to watch as both sides battled for the win. Shawn and Bryce, from Hittin’ it, were the front row studs with many great kills. They were however stopped multiple times by their opponents great blocks and saving digs. Kelsey, Emily & Stephanie, the female sl*ts, rocked the defense for their team and brought some heat at the net as well. It was another match that went to 3 sets with Hittin it walking away with the championship title.

All three sets between Planet Volleywood and Tough Bacon were close. After each winning their semi-finals match the teams met face to face with lots of determination. Planet Volleywood had a slight advantage at the net with a six foot (insert some high number here) Aarik on their team, but Tough Bacon wasn’t going to let that get them down. In the first set, the lead bounced back and forth with the final score being 27-25 in favor of Tough Bacon. Again in set two and the lead bounced back and forth. Both teams were hustling all over the court and playing hard at the net like they were defending their castle. This set went to Planet Volleywood and the match got real. Back and forth the game went, with loud cheers and lots of determination. When the dust settled and the battle was over, it was Planet Volleywood standing at the top.

At the beginning of the season Bump Ninjas approached me and asked to have the chance to play some of the top teams as that is the best way to get better. They were happy to be given a schedule that had them playing almost every team in the midcore 1 bracket. While this schedule gave them a 2-4 record going into playoffs, they were not discouraged because they knew their level of play had been taken up a notch. After powering through their first two playoff games they found themselves face to face with long time veterans, Salute your Courts. They took the game as far as they could in 3 sets and by the middle of the first, it was obvious why these teams were in the finals. There were many long rallies and a couple of great serving streaks from both teams. What it really came down to was defense, and tonight Bump Ninjas brought their A game. Congrats on the win!
