Turf Toes win Inaugural Game!
Turf Toes win Inaugural Game!
In their first game, fans of the Turf Toes really didn't know what to expect. Many of the players on the team had softball and baseball experience, but as we've seen with many teams this doesn't always equate to runs. Fortunately for Turf Toes, they had all the right numbers to equal some great team chemistry. In the night cap, they one a back and forth game between Team Amway, in the end the Turf Toes were able to pull away for a 15 to 11 win. Marcie and Cody shared player of the game honors as they were all over the base paths, but in this game it was really a team effort that helped Turf Toes get off to a 1-0 start. Nice job all teams and especially Turf Toes, we look forward to all the action in the weeks to come!

Victor Intermaggio pitches great game, helps him self out with some great defense!
This past Thursday night the Big Fish Sticks were able to beat Tea Amway by a score of 16-4, on the mound for the Big Fish Sticks was Victor Intermaggio. Victor was not only able to hold Team Amway to only four runs, but he really helped himself out by saving a few more runs with some stellar defensive plays. First off Victor caught two screaming line drives that looked as if the may take his head off. Secondly, on a play at the plate Victor was able to make a great catch and then tag the runner as he slid to avoid him. Needless to say Victor was an asset to his team this week and a key to the victory. For that he wins player of the week honors. Nice job Victor and team Big Fish Sticks!

Big Fish Sticks
Luc Purdy of Big Fish Sticks turned in a great performance on Tuesday night. Luc made it happen on offense and defense. He went 4 for 4 at the plate, leading Big Fish to 11 runs. But his defense was where he really shined, recording an outfield assist and running down several fly balls in Left Field. One catch in particular was Sportscenter material, as he ranged toward the foul line on a long fly ball and made a fully extended diving catch.

Nashty or Nice cruises to victory, off to a hot start!
Nashty or Nice cruises to victory, off to a hot start!
This week's team of the week award goes to Nashty or Nice. Nashty or Nice, who brings a great attitude and a lot of energy to their games each week was able to beat team Amway 18-7 with Henry H., taking home player of the game honors as he did not make an out. On top of that Nashty or Nice relied on a heavy female lineup even playing multiple innings with an all female outfield. These ladies are also monsters on the base paths and are constantly drawing the extra throw or creating "pickle situations." Needless to say Nashty or Nice had a great week and is a team to look out for down the road. Nice job Nashty or Nice!

Big Fish Sticks
In a back and forth, competitive game, Jeffry Liptak led his team to victory. Not only did he have clutch hits throughout the night, he finished with 3 hrs to help Big Fish Sticks pull away in the bottom of the 6th. Jeffry was stellar while on defense at first base where he dug deep and stretched out to catch key throws down the stretch.

Seafoam Seahorses get foamy!
Seafoam Seahorses get foamy!
The Seafoam Seahorses had been off to a rough start, it wasn't that they were a bad team just some misfortunes. They would either scored a lot of runs but give up even more, or play great d but then hardly be able to scratch a run. On Thursday, all that was erased from memory as the Seafoam Seahorses exploded for 30 runs all why holding their opponent, Team Amway to only 11 runs. It was a great team effort for the Seahorses who look to take this team effort and momentum into the playoffs. Nice job Seafoam Seahorses!

Honey Nut Ichiros win pitching dual!
Honey Nut Ichiros win pitching dual!
In this week's Tuesday nightcap it was the Turf Toes against the Honey Nut Ichiros. The game, under a beautiful sunset turned out to be a pitcher's dual that saw the Honey Nut Ichiros win 8-5. Josh L., stood out for the Ichiros as he started out the game by playing some great defense at third. Josh then game in to pitch the final four innings of the game helping to hold off the Turf Toes' comeback efforts. Defensively the Honey Nut Ichiros were excellent all night long and seemed to be in the right place at the right time. The Honey Nut Ichiros are only getting stronger as the playoffs approach and will certainly be a force to be reckoned with. Nice job Ichiros!

WhiskeyBats plays great overall game, gets the win!
WhiskeyBats plays great overall game, gets the win!
In the closest game this week, WhiskeyBats were able to hold off the ever jubilant Seafoam Seahorses by a score of 14-9. The WhiskeyBats have some of the best attitudes known to Underdog, and it shows every week in how much fun they have. Several Whiskey players stood out in the game, whether it was David, who was a star at the plate, improving tremendously every week. Or, who not only wore some spectacular pants (which may cause seizures) but made the diving play to back up wearing the pants! All in all it was a great week for WhiskeyBats as they are our team of the week!

Honey Nut Ichiros dress to impress!
Honey Nut Ichiros dress to impress!
We have a unique team award this week. In their game this past Tuesday, the Honey Nut Ichiros won by forfeit, however it was their team apparel and spirit that set them apart from the rest of the field. The Ichiros decided to have a theme with their uniforms this week and that theme revolved around formal attire. Players showed up in suits and dresses. One player was reminiscent of Don Johnson circa 1987, another looked as if he was cast in the HBO's series Boardwalk Empire which is set in the 20's. Needless to say the Honey Not Ichiros were dressed to the nines and took the forfeit in stride playing an inter-squad scrimmage in which it was suits vs. non suits, with the suits pulling out the 9-8 victory. Great job Honey Nut Ichiros for bringing great fun the the field!

Erick Rowley leads Nasty or Nice to the finals!
Erick Rowley leads Nasty or Nice to the finals!
Erick Rowley was huge for Nashty or Nice on Tuesday night at Bobby Morris. Nashty or Nice had loss their regular season match up with the Big Fish Sticks and Rowley was determined to make amends. Always a consistent pitcher for Nashty or Nice, it was with his glove where Rowley was able to make a big difference, as there seemed to be a magnet in it. Every ground ball up the middle was snagged by Erick who was steady eddy making the throws to first. With Erick leading the way on D, Nashty or Nice were able to hold the potent Big Fish Sticks to just six runs and advance to next week's final. Nice job Erick and team Nasty or Nice!

Lauren Leads The Way in Drubbing
Thursday night's play off game at Bobby Morris was a lesson in scoring as many runs as you can so you can live to play another game. From the start the Bad News Bears ripped off 10 runs in the 2nd inning, 10 runs in the 4th inning which was enough to put the game away. During all of this Lauren batted 3 for 4 with a HR, 2 singles and batted in 4 runs. She sparked Bad News offensively and defensively shutting down every position she played during the night. Great game Lauren!!
