Doug Snider has balls... No, really, like BALLS! Before you can figure out where this joke is headed, we'll tell you that we're referring to Doug's custom made Pittsburgh Steelers ball, complete with official logo and team name, which he brazenly brandished all all Monday night. We are a peaceful, friendly city; Seattle. Lest we forget the teachings of Matt, Shaun, and Mack; that when our cheek is slapped we must turn and offer the other... then do an endzone dance. So here's to you and the Steelers, Doug. Let this be your moment to shine in our town, for you will not have too many more...

We rarely hand out POTW honors for actual feats of skill (that just wouldn't be any fun, would it?) but there was so much good stuff to chose from this week. Todd from Split Happens and Scott from Mines in the Gutter both had 200 plus games. Cary from Indy #1 finished his night with 5 consecutive strikes. But the true hero Monday night was a virtual unknown, a cinderella story comin' outta nowhere. She accomplished something that every bowler- top to bottom- understands, yet few ever accomplish. We need but say the words for you to know what we're talking about: 7-10 split. Shannon Lord from No F in Strikes earned her place in the Underdog bowling pantheon by picking up the dreaded and nefarious 7-10 split. A foregone conclusion for most, but not her; EVERY PIN MUST FALL. Some ref tried to call it back, claiming an inconclusive foot fault... oh wait, we're thinking of something else. Anyway, congrats Shannon.

This week, we tried something new; POTW was elected by committee. Like the People's Choice Awards, the bowlers told us who was hot and who was not. Finalists included Paula from I Can't Believe It's Not Gutter, Ryan from Holding Out For Bumpers, Liz from Strike This, and in a surprise write in, Robin Williams for his stunning and courageous portrayal of a mentally handicapped bowler on a quest to bowl a 300 game in order to save his father's glue factory from going under. In the end, the honors went to Liz for her impressive number of consecutive frames with 8 pins and then a spare. Better luck next week, Robin.
