POTW: Barry Nishimura
Busterz
The Busterz had all the help they needed to get a win in week one thanks to Barry Nishimura. With scores of 151 and 195 who can argue the nomination for POTW? Barry's bowling form is as pretty as Ray Allen's jumpshot. With Barry leading the way, the Busterz look like the team to beat at Imperial.

F5 Bouncing Red Balls
Katie Foote had the happy feet Tuesday night. Although her scores were average, one must remember that POTW's are judged more on style and creativity, than overall score. In Katie's case, a strike or a spare would be followed by a brief but explosive bout of shouting and hopping up and down in place, then the short victory lap around her area high fiving anyone she could find along the path and then... quiet. Composed, once again. Like a ninja.
Honorable mention to Stephanie Stone's Pinheads, who high fived not only when they bowled, but when the opposing team did as well. Thanks for bringing it, guys.

Theme Night - Grab Your Most Ridiculous Lid
POTW: Barry Nishimura
POTW: Barry Nishimura
Busterz
This is really a dual POTW award between Barry Nishimura and BJ Ong. These two juggernauts of the lanes and friends went head to head Tuesday, with the slight edge going to Barry... this time. These guys typify the true spirit of Underdog: being real competitors, but always caring more about having fun in the end. At one point, BJ was talking excitedly about the new bowling balls they had just purchased. "Yeah, we all got jobs now, so we figured: why not?" Word, BJ. Word.

And in the new category of Drunken Loud Screaming Ball Dropping Fun Loving Beer Chucking Over a Coldplay Song Mildly Entertaining Two Team Having Organization of the Week, we salute the entire F5 organization. Jeez guys, how you gonna keep this up for four more weeks?

Knock-outs
Great players triumph through adversity. When not enough girls showed up on Ashley Bach's Knock Outs, causing them to forfeit, he put a boombox in their place, turned the Biggie up, and bowled right on through it. Great bowling is like great chess, except with much bigger, heavier, moving pieces; you must always see many moves ahead, and adapt quickly to developing situations. Ashley knew this of course, when he created his dj playlist... on the fly during the game! Magnificent.
Special bonus points for laughing and inadvertently spitting cola on the Bowling Commissioner, and playing Prince's "The Beautiful Ones". In fact, playing any Prince song will likely win you POTW honors. Have you heard Prince's music? He's that good.

POTW: Sam Sy
POTW: Sam Sy
The Chicken Headz
As we've stated before in this forum, we don't like to give POTWs for sheer talent and high scoring; that's just boring. But every once in a while, someone has a game that comes along and kicks our collective bowling asses, and we have no choice but to let the facts speak for themselves. Sam Sy had just such a game Tuesday night, finishing with 7 consecutive strikes for a total score of 222. Congratulations to Sam. He'll now be summarily tested for performance enhancing drugs to see if his POTW status should be provoked. U.S.A! U.S.A!

Pinheads
So Ryan "Rated R" Brewer wasn't on a championship team last night. In fact, his team didn't win either playoff game and finished fourth. So sue us. It's UNDERDOG Sports Leagues, not Kick-Your-Ass-All-Over-The-Place-and-Gloat-About-It Sports Leagues. What Ryan did do is show up with the two biggest games of his season in the two most important games he had; bowling a 223 in a losing effort in the semis, and then a 181 in the third place match. This ain't no tap, folks, this is all heart. It's safe to say that his average beat everybody last night, champion or otherwise, and you really can't ask for too much more. Except maybe some cookies. Yeah, now if he did all that AND brought cookies... yeah... Oh, tough break Ryan, you'll get em next season.
