Tom Potter on the grassy knoll.
Tom Potter on the grassy knoll.
Afternoon Delight delights in the afternoon.
Everyone who's ever played on field #6 at Lower Woodlands knows of the grassy knoll which wraps itself around the far reaches of the field from baseline to baseline. This grassy monster has chewed up outfielder after outfielder who were trained on the deep ball ready to make the sure catch. In the 6pm game where Afternoon Delight squared off against Slap My Pitch Up that green meanie met its match. Finding himself on the ground and seemingly in the clutches of the grassy trademark of this field, Tom Potter of Afternoon Delight still somehow amazingly made the catch that the hill tried to rob him of! Not only did Tom make that amazing catch, but he also went 3-for-4 from the plate with a triple, 2 doubles and 3 rbis en route to a 24-13 Afternoon Delight victory! Congrats to Tom Potter, our Player of the Week!!

Arbornauts keep it exciting!
When you play a double-header and you're named Player of the Game for both of your games, that means you're doing something right! Mindy Tolstedt of Arbornauts did just that! In her first game she went 3-for-4 including 2 doubles and 3 rbi's. In her 2nd game she went an amazing 4-for-4 from the plate and had an amazing catch up on the hill in left center field! That's two weeks in a row where someone has squared off against the baseline-to-baseline burm on field #6 and come out on the victorious end. Congratulations to Mindy Tolstedt of Arbornauts for not only going a combined 7-for-8 from the plate and racking up the rbi's, but for also taming the green meanie on field #6 to earn Player of the Week honors!

Sue Li Stellar On Defense
Yes, the Giants were at it again with their winning ways and this weekend was no different in both of the games they played. They have become a really solid team and have even won a championship or two. They are quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with. Their catcher Sue Li has been on fire at the plate and behind the plate the last few games. I have personally watched her evolve as a catcher and a a hitter over the past 5 seasons and she gets after it every single game and every single inning that she is in the games. This past Sunday she batted 5 for 8 in both games and drove in 3 runs. She also had 3 unassisted outs behind the plate and made it look really easy while she did it. Hats off to Sue Li for a great performance on Sunday.

Too Drunk to Score, lead by Paul Leigh captures league title behind hitting, hustle and the leadership of each team member. They were determined to take home the title as predicted to me before their game and by god they did it. Edwin Dizon came up big also going 3 for 5 with a triple, two doubles and 5 runs batted in. Great game and congratulations to Too Drunk to Score.
