Volleyball Champs!
Defeating the Giants

V is for Volleyball; W is for Wolves had an incredible team and season. They went 4-2 on the regular season giving them the number 3 seed for the playoffs. It was a bit of a learning curve for them in the beginning, trying to get used to the high level of play this season offered. But V is for Volleyball; W is for Wolves continued to battle week in and week out. The two teams they lost to in the regular season, they would have a shot at redemption for the playoffs.

Infectious Agents beat V is for Volleyball; W is for Wolves in the last game of the regular season, setting up a rematch in the semi finals of the playoffs. This time V is for Volleyball; W is for Wolves were ready behind the monster play of Graham. He picked them apart and hit the open spots all night. Moving on to the finals, they were up against the number 1 seeded, Indecisive, who beat them in 3 straight sets in week 2.

You could tell by V is for Volleyball; W is for Wolves' focus that they were not going to go down that easy. In fact, it looked like they were out for redemption. The cool calm and collective Chase, showed his volleyball prowess, digging hard driven balls and creating easy opportunities with his perfect sets. This team was in sync all game long as they gave it to Indecisive. Indecisive was the clear favorite for the championship this season with teams fearing to play them. But with the hearts of a champion and the never-die attitude, V is for Volleyball; W is for Wolves overcame the "giant" and put a stop to Indecisive's undefeated run to win the championship 2-0.

Amazing job! Let's see if you can repeat that performance next season. V is for Volleyball; W is for Wolves will be the favorite to repeat if they do decide to go for another run.

Perfect Season

The BAdgers took the season by storm. They boasted a perfect 6-0 record to grab the number 1 seed in the playoffs. They didn't stop there though. The BAdgers continued their streak winning their first and second round playoff games to enter the championship against Heidi and Friends.

This game went down to the wire. After splitting the first two sets, Heidi and Friends looked like they had the momentum to take it to The BAdgers. But the third set was led by the hustle play of Peter and Zach. They were like jumping beans at the net, trying to hit everything that came their way and contest every spike they could. Wherever The BAdgers got this second wind, it definitely helped. Kerry was an exceptional setter as she covered the court to pop the ball up for her hitters. Katheryn is possibly the best passer on the team. She was always on the mark even when she had to chase the ball down to get it up. Greg had incredible defense. He was there for every spike and was sliding all over the hardwood making plays.

The BAdgers were no joke tonight on their way to the championship. They hustle every single play and it showed by their record. The BAdgers look to be the most dominant softcore team Underdog has put out in a while. Great job BAdgers!

A Battle For the Top Spot

Endless Summer had a disappointing season for their standards going 3-3. It seemed like every week they were missing players and had to play a person down. But they fought tooth and nail the whole way through. Their volleyball IQ was second to none and talent wise, they had the whole package. They just didn't have enough to cover the whole court with missing players. But come playoff time, Endless Summer got the whole team together and made a run.

After capturing the number 2 seed, Endless Summer played an amazing Blockwork Orange team. Blockwork Orange gave them all they could handle taking the game to the final set where Endless Summer ended up winning in a nail biter.

Now we were set for the championship. The number 1 seeded 509 Block Party vs the number 2 seeded Endless Summer.
Bo, from 509 Block Party was a complete wall against Endless Summer. Spikes were just not doing it against 509 Block Party. Endless Summer was looking at a mirror image of themselves, except their strength of spike was now depleted.

Jess was able to use his smarts to come through. He set up the blockers as he went up for a spike, to simply dink the ball right over their outstretched arms. His placement was perfect all game long. Sarah was able to use her passing abilities to keep the ball alive. No spikes shied her away, she was wanting and willing to get every ball that came her way. Esther is just a phenomenal volleyball player. If there was one player finding a hole in the wall, count on Esther to use the angles to go right around. Endless Summer used their great volleyball IQ to get passed 509 Block Party for the championship.

Endless Summer will surely be back. But expect a inspired 509 team that will be looking for revenge. Looks like we have a great story-line coming up when these two powerhouses match up in the upcoming seasons.
