Marc Nakamura
Marc Nakamura
Po'okela
Marc is an unbelievable volleyball player and his talents were on full display tonight. With a calmness to his demeanor, Marc was ferocious at the net. He was able to quickly leap in the air and measure exactly where he wanted to hit the ball. Marc's elevation was eye-popping as he easily was the highest jumper on the court. His skills were much more than just hitting, he was able to dig hard driven spikes and make perfect passes. Marc is more than exceptional at volleyball and Po'okela looks to be the early favorites to win the league's championship. Great job Marc!

Cowen Park Pythons
Watch out, Late Fall Midcore Volleyballers in Fremont! If you don't come to play Asher Chiu will eat you alive. No, really, I actually think he might eat you. Asher is an animal on the court. He is precise and hard working, but that is just the start of what makes Asher and the Cowen Park Pythons a threat. Asher is also incredibly enthusiastic. Think Kevin Garnett, but one-third his size, and just as intense. All that energy and ferocity packed in to Asher's slightly (read "much") smaller frame makes his intensity that much more powerful. Next week, if you hear something similar to The Hulk, I bet you'll see Asher, aiding the Pythons to another victory. Congrats, Asher! You're this week's Player of the Week!

Poop Sandwich
Ask anyone who has played against Poop Sandwich the past two seasons at Sound Mind & Body and they will tell you Poop Sandwich comes to play. They are energetic, positive, and ready for anything. Especially Erika Whittaker. Erika deserves Player of the Week every week. She embodies what Underdog is all about. Always smiling, having fun, supporting her teammates vocally, and playing her heart out, week in and week out. This week Erika had great plays all over the court and, as usual, had strong dives. Congratulations, Erika Whittaker, you are Player of the Week!

Bing Bang Zip!
Bing Bang Zip comes ready to play every week. Especially Rani Williams. She is dedicated. Rani arrives early with a smile on her face and it never goes away. She plays hard and makes it look easy. Rani is a vocal leader on Bing Bang Zip as well as a leader by example. Always in position, supporting her teammates, and serving up a storm, Rani has team spirit like no other. This also makes Rani an example of Underdog excellence. Playing hard, cheering loud, and having fun! Congrats, Rani! You are our Player of the Week!

Moss Adams
This week's Player of the Week is Rachel Miller of Moss Adams. Rachel shows up to Sound Mind and Body week in and week out ready to work. Her continuous positivity and effort makes Rachel a true Underdog champ. She fits her team, Moss Adams, perfectly because they all exemplify what Underdog is all about. Rachel and her team are unselfish players, competitive players, fun, friendly, and spirited. When Rachel walks into the gym in her Moss Adams random animal t-shirt and her game face you know it's on. Congrats, Rachel! You're our Player of the Week!

Morning Missiles
Matt stepped up big tonight as his team only put out 4 players. Matt had some great defense tonight, covering ground as if the Morning Missiles didn't even lose a beat from being down 2 players. From baseline to baseline, Matt showed speed, quickness and pure determination to track down the ball like a defender from the Seahawk secondary. There is high praise for the rest of the Missiles who played tonight as well because they played like a cohesive unit who all flew around the court like... well like Missiles. Congrats Matt, you did amazing tonight!

Sarah Kraynik
Cowen Park Pythons
Hands down, Sarah deserved the Player of the Week this week. Her elevation was eye popping and her swings just blew your mind. Showing a quiet demeanor on the court, you wouldn't expect Sarah to have the type of power she possesses. After the opponents realized what she could do, they couldn't stop her. Sarah was going to jump right over you and smash the ball to the ground. Sarah does it all on the court and it is showing through the success of the Cowen Park Pythons. This team is stacked throughout the roster but Sarah seems to be leading the pack. Great job tonight Sarah

Poop Sandwich
Each week Candice Hillman of Poop Sandwich shows up and plays her heart out. She gets Player of the Week this week for many reasons. Yes, her team won the championship and she played a huge role in that. And, yes, her teammates voted her Player of the Game in the semis for dropping mad bombs. But I also am voting Candice Player of the Week because, to me, she is player of the season. Every Monday Candice is there for her team with a smile on her face. Even in the first couple weeks when Candice did not seem to have the confidence in herself, she still stayed positive, encouraged her teammates, and smiled. Candice quickly became one of our favorite players to watch because of her dedication, hard work, and improvement on the court. Call her what you want, MVP, Most Improved, or Bad Ass. We are calling Candice Player of the Week!
