Paul Leigh
Don't Come On My Base
What a beautiful night it was for opening day softball at Bobby Morris field. Some players got right into the flow of things as if there were never an off-season inlcuding Paul of Don't Come on My Base. It might have been his second at bat, where he unloaded a rocket shot to DEEP left center field. It would have wound up in the courts on the other side of the fence had there not been a tree to keep it in play. Rules are a little fuzzy about trees preventing homeruns so the ump called him OUT at home. Tough break for the big hitter but that didn't stop him from making some great plays and dominating at the plate. You're a hell of a ball player, Paul. Even better man for not kicking dirt up at the ump:)

Stephanie
Hit it and Forget About it
Stephanie definitely had the best performance on the night earning her this weeks POTW. Stephanie scoop a ridiculous number of balls thrown at her while playing 1st base, and never let a ball get by. Stephanie robbed one batter who smoked one down the line her direction as it looked like extra bases, but it ended up being a frustrated walk to the dugout. Stephanie also dazzled at the plate hitting a couple of doubles in her 4 for 5 performance. With zero errors, web gems, and damage with the bat, Stephanie is this weeks player of the week!

Move Pitch, Get Out the Way
Playing Down while Playing Tough
Playing down players, Move Pitch, Get Out the Way grabbed their first win of the season. Any team will tell you that when you play w/only 9 fielders, it puts you at a big disadvantage. That's what team Move Pitch, Get out the Way was up against but instead of folding and using that as an excuse, they stepped it up and only allowed 6 runs after the first inning. On top of playing such exceptional D, their bats seemed to be on fire, scoring 12 runs to take the victory against an always tough to beat, Loco Locals. Great Win, team.....And GO BLUE!!

Kristin Baker
Loco Locals
Kristin discovered this fun fact. It's never as easy as it looks to catch pop ups in the outfield. On her first couple attempts, she misjudged the ball under the lights. But after that she became a pro in left field. In the 6th, she made 2 back to back amazing catches saving a couple of runs. Proud of the progress, Kristin. Keep it up

Chelsea Goes Deep
Slidin' Dirty- Indy #S2
On a damp, chilly night, Chelsea was able to have her best game so the season. She has success at the plate, going 3 for 4. Which included an home run early in the game pushing Slidin' Dirty to a huge lead and never looking back. Besides a solid performance at the plate, Chelsea was able to keeps all hits to right field in front of her minimizing extra base hit on the way to solid win for Slidin Dirty.

Jamie Fowler
The Home run Queen
On a chilly rainy night at Bobby Morris, Jamie Fowler stepped up to the plate with a one run lead in the final inning and two runners on base looking to extend the lead. Mr. Home run
Hit 3 blasts on the night
After a rainy Seattle day the clouds disappeared just in time for the games to start. In the second game, Rob F stepped up to the plate with a lot of confidence after his already terrific season. He would go on to hit three home runs in his first 3 at bats, and even tried an at bat from the opposite side of the plate. He had everything going for him, and not even a wet sloppy field could prevent him from touching 'em all three times in the game, great hitting!
This weeks elite player was Molly J. A who brought the thunder with the bat. Molly had 2 triples on the night, as well as a deep home-run. With Molly's bat she helped take in plenty of runs in her squads victory. Great game Molly!
Every time Ali came to the plate she found a way to get on base. Whether it was a solid hit up the middle or a looping liner, the defense could not get her out. It was her consistent on base ability that kept her team putting up the crooked numbers they needed to win and move on in the playoffs. Way to show 'em how its done Ali!
There's no doubt that this week's player of the week is the Merge's Gary Lai. He was fantastic on the mound and behind the plate. Gary pitched a complete game in his team's semifinal victory. He also was 3 for 4 having multiple RBI's. In the bottom of the seventh, the game got close as Don't Come on My Base narrowed the Merge's lead to 2 runs. With runners on second and third Gary got the final out of the inning and the game to send his team to the championship game Thursday night.
Championship night brought 80 degree weather and a whole lot of people enjoying it at Bobby Morris Playfield. Because there were so many pedestrians strolling around the outfield grass it took some great coaching by team captain Brian J to bring home the championship. Brian's coaching, not too mention his rare 2 run sacrifice fly to pad the lead in the bottom of the fifth propelled his team to victory on Thursday night.
