Folks, remember our name- it's "Underdog", not 'overdog'. As in we live for the moments when the little guy wins it all, when David conquers Goliath.
Well, this Thursday night league at Sunset gave us our money's worth, as not one but two veteran teams claimed upset victories to make it into a tense championship.
The Dramatic Chipmunks and 3 Fingers In had been tearing up opponents with military precision all season in order to finish 1 and 2 respectively.
However, in the semis it was Alex from ICBING deliering the game of his life, bowling a 200, in order for his number #4 seed to knock off the young upstart Dramatic Chipmunks. Meanwhile, the Pin Stalkers had solid play all around, while 3 Fingers In's all star Will Braden found himself on the wrong end of an off game. It was enough to give the Pin Stalkers their first ever championship birth.
Once in the championship, the Pin Stalkers rolled to victory with the same consistent and quiet winning ways that had gotten them there. Nothing spectacular, just good bowling. In the end, it was really the guts of Pin Stalker's Stephanie that sealed it. After flirting with a Championship last season, Stephanie was determined to take it all this season. She would not take no for an answer.
Final outcome: the Pin Stalkers, who just a few short seasons ago were an Indy team of BTB rookies, are now Underdog BTB champs.
