They say one is the loneliest number. Well Sunset Forever found that out the hard way early Sunday evening when they went up against Gutterballs in the first round of the playoffs. While Saints and Sinners made short work of their cinderella story opponents, We're Only Here FOr the Booze, Gutterballs and Sunset Forever's match ended in a rare tie, forcing the even rarer-er Sudden Death Single Frame Bowl-Off! Yes, a tie in our standard playoff format has only happened once before in the illustrious history of BTB- with both teams advancing. This marked the first time ever that the Sudden Death Single Frame Bowl-off would be used. All normal BTB rules applied, including dropping of scores, except both teams had one frame to give it their best. The final score: Gutterballs 37 pins to Sunset Forever's 36. ONE PIN! DOH!
The momentum was enough to carry Gutterballs through the championship match and defeat a tiring Saints and Sinners, who had spent their all in their semi-final match. Sunset Forever salvaged some pride by defeating Here for The Booze in the third place match, but our guess is they'll be haunted by that one pin... forever.
