Lucky had agreatday at the plate with some stellar "D". Luke pitched phenomanelly keeping his ERA under 4 and the swingers bats cold. The Empty pitchers whole lineup was tough top to bottom, but one player really stepped up. Hope Esbin led the charge for Empty Pitchers to the championship. Hope had a great day at the plate going 3 for 4 with a triple and a walk. She had a hardcore day on the basepath to, sliding hard for the extra bag or to break up the double play. The play of the day however was her web gem. With the bases loaded 2 outs and the Swingers mounting a comeback in the fourth inning in a still close game. The Swingers batter hit a soft looper just over 2nd base for what looked like a sure hit. Out of nowhere came Hope with a beautiful laid out diving catch looking like she nearly broke her wrist but able to hold on to the ball to end the inning and take all the wind out of the Swingers comeback. That play changed the whole feel of the game and the Empty Pitchers were able to pull away to ice the game. In the Sofcore championship both teams had an easy route to the game. It was a well contested game through the first few innings but Twist middle of the lineup (4,5,6) was just to much. Marcus, Joe and Tierney combined to go 12 for 15 with 3 HR 2 triples and 13 RBI's. Tierney had an exceptionally good day both at the plate (4 for 5 3runs 3 RBI) and in the field to lead Twist to the Championship. Congrats to the champions and all the teams who competed this season. You all showed a lot of class and good sportsmanship. It was a pleasure to umpire this league. Thank you from myself and Underdog Sports. Hope to see you all next season.
