Fall Midcore Kickball at Ballard Boys and Girls Club Sundays

Okay, so maybe not everyone can be a winner in this town. Jacob stepped up to kick with a tie score late in the game, when he was given some bad news about our unfortunate Seahawks prospect of winning their home opener. Distracted and distraught, Jacob shanked off the first pitch out of play and put himself in a one hole strike. He would not make the same mistake twice, though, booting his next kick into the outfield, and turning a would be single into a homerun with some great base-running. Jacob's HR ignited his team to a few more runs, and that made the difference, as their opponents did not score again. Jacob, I hear the Hawks are having some trouble in their punting department...

There are few times the player with the best attitude and spirit is awarded these days. I'm happy to say, this is one of those times. Eric displays true grit, fighting through frustration of a cheeky kickball that did not seem to want to stay in his hands. Most players would have thrown their arms up and surrendered to the red rubber. Not Eric. He battled and fought through the bloopers, and won his respect from the game ball. With some late inning rally-killing catches and goofy plays that brought both teams to out-loud laughter, Eric wins our dubious Player Of The Week honors.

Chris impressed on both sides of the ball Sunday, leading Off In a Corner to a 13-9 come from behind victory. He drove someone in every time to the plate it seemed, including a monstrous two run home run which brought his team back late. Chris also manned center field where he gobbled up anything and everything that came his way. Congratulations to Chris and Off In a Corner.
